1978 XC GS Falcon 302 V8 ... (SOLD)

1978 XC GS Rallye Pack Fairmont 302 V8. Here is a great restoration project. All matching numbers, unrestored late build 10th Month 1978 XC Fairmont sedan. Arguably the best colour trim combo in Fire Glow with C2 Trim and black vinyl roof. All factory fitted options include Working Power-windows, Power steering, Factory fitted air-conditioning, Super desirable factory fitted Golde wind-back sunroof, 4 wheel disc brakes, LSD diff and GS Rallye Pack.

Apart from a Holley carburettor, the running gear is all original and matching numbers. The driveline has never been removed from the car and is untampered with. All brackets, clips, grommets etc. are all present and undisturbed. The XC is showing 103,000 Klms and is believed to be original mileage.

The current owner purchased the XC Fairmont from the original owner’s nephew. It was last registered in 1992 and has always been a Queensland based car. This is a running drivable car that has been kept in safe storage awaiting restoration. The motor runs smooth and quiet. It is an accident free car with no structural rust. Rust is limited to small areas at the bottom of the rear quarters and there are signs of previous repairs to the bottom of both dog legs, around both tail lights and at the bottom corners of the front left door bottom. The Plenum area, “A” Pillars, floor and sills are clean.

All glass is original. The rear screen is out (supplied) and clean. Boot channels and boot floor are clean and rust free. This is generally a really good solid body. Body tags and decals have never been removed. Original paint is still found under the bonnet in the engine bay, boot, door jambs etc. Body is in primer and will need to be re-sprayed.

Good, solid complete running restorable cars are getting hard to find now.
