Super rare Calypso green XA GT Falcon RPO 83 for sale from Perth, WA.

Two hundred and fifty XA GT Falcons slipped out of the factory in August of 1973, with a new and previously unheard of Regular Production Option; RPO83. These were destined to take over the legacy of the mighty XY GTHO Phase 3s race reputation due to their improved aerodynamics and road holding. Due to the Supercar crisis of '72, these 250 cars all built in August 1973 went unnoticed until Ford enthusiasts and historians uncovered their unique story.

The fact is the improvements and equipment fitted to the RPO83 production cars did make it onto the race track and did help the Falcon Hardtops achieve more race victories than their GTHO predecessors. Consider that the today's vastly more valuable GTHO Phase 3 has only one Bathurst victory to its credit (1971) while the XA GT Hardtop and successor won in 1973, 1974 and 1977.

Now FOR SALE is one VERY special GT Falcon. One of only 5 GT Sedans fitted with the RPO83 performance option to be painted in Calypso Green and a true one of one build with its options fitted. Only 130 XA GT Falcon Sedans were built with the Regular Production Option #83 and this gleaming Calypso Green example was been tastefully restored in the early 2000s so you won't need to spend any money to start enjoying this rare Falcon.

Heavily optioned with seatbelts, laminated windshield, black hood, styled exterior r/v mirror LHS, 72 - Radio/Stereo tape player (missing), front spoiler, RPO 83, vent windows and tinted side and rear window. Interestingly, this is the only RPO fitted with the Quarter Vent windows option.

Running the all matching numbers 351 Cleveland with its day one 4V 4 dot big port heads, this RPO 83 GT runs a 750DP Holley with Aluminium intake manifold and is supplied with the original Phase 3 spec Holley 780 carburettor, intake manifold and rocker covers (see photo). The GT was factory fitted with the 2.25 inch Phase 4 developed Tri-Y design exhaust headers that also come with the car. Of course the GT runs the tough 4 speed top loader gearbox and a nodular iron Detroit Locker 9" diff.

The interior has been retrimmed in the original Black vinyl trim, with the original door cards, dash, gauges and steering wheel with new carpets. The RPO only manual choke is still in place. The option 72 Radio/Stereo has been replaced with a blanking plate.

The RPO is running the factory tramp rods and braking has been upgraded with XB rear discs. The original XA GT drums are supplied with the car. There is a spare steel rimmed tyre in the boot plus jack and tools and a boot carpet.

Originally sold through Brian Wood Ford, Upper Ferntree Gully, VIC, the car comes with both the ACCHS and Ford Motor Company, Australia verification letters.

Here is an RPO 83 that needs nothing but a new owner. This is an all matching numbers GT and comes with the most coveted XA GT option available - RPO83. Enough said!

Currently on full WA registration. XA RPO 83 plates included for WA buyer. Located in Perth, WA for your inspection. (Ref: 6610)

If you wish, we will gladly arrange an actual/video inspection tour of the car and of course there is no issue to arrange enclosed transport door to door anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
