2004 FPV BA Falcon GT - Dean Canto's Personal car
FPV obviously took a lot of pride in building each and every FPV Falcon. But when the car is a special order for one of their race drivers, we think there might have been just a little more passion put into the build. On display in our Sydney Showroom.
This stunning ultra low mileage ONE of ONE BA GT Falcon was built for first registered owner Ford Race car driver and multiple race winning Australian motor racing driver, Dean Canto.
Canto raced for Ford Performance Racing under its numerous banners from 2008–2018. His time there included a 2nd place at the Bathurst 1000 in 2012, and a win at the Gold Coast 600 in 2014, both alongside long time teammate, David Reynolds. His racing career spans 25 years with a start in karting, Super Tourers, and V8 Supercars.
So, when racing for the newly established Triple Eight Race Engineering (who were running Falcons from 2004 to 2009) as an endurance driver in 2004, it came time for a new FPV GT Falcon, FPV built this stunning Vixen Red BA GT for Dean. One of the last BA GT Series 1 Falcons built, Build No 1070 is heavily optioned with the Brembo brake upgrade package, black leather trim, upgraded Stereo system, console mounted phone charger and boot liner.
Presented for sale in absolutely unmarked, unmodified and unbelievable condition with a mere 16,253 Kilometres on the clock, this BA GT Falcon comes with all FPV documentation, Compendium, CD, owners log books, manuals, service history, Ford verification letter and even the original Ford tissue box in the centre dash slot. Build No. 1070 was originally ordered through Peter Warren Ford, Canto's local Sydney Ford dealer but delivered through Duhig Ford in Essendon, Victoria as Dean was at the time based in Melbourne.
Powered by the all matching numbers multi-valve, twin-cam 5.4-litre Boss engine, the GT steps up to the mark with 290kW, plus a mountainous 520Nm of torque. With a vastly improved power-weight ratio, the GT can run a standing 400 metre in around the mid-13-second mark. Each Boss 290 engine arrived to Australia in stripped-down form and was lovingly put together at FPV’s facility in Campbellfield, Victoria. It was quite an extensive re-work of the 260kW version used in Falcon XR8 models, with a specially balanced crankshaft, new, high performance pistons and re-engineering of various components like connecting rods and big-end bearings.
The cylinders are fed by locally made inlet manifolds and purged via an also Australian-made stainless steel exhaust system that was specially tuned to promote the V8 rumble. It idles with a rocking beat that is full of promise, charging to 6000rpm like a small capacity four-cylinder but with huge amounts of torque that will get the wheel squealing while rolling along in second gear and it will pull away hard from 1,200 RPM in 5th.
The BA GT is equipped with the five-speed Tremec heavy-duty transmission and equally performance-oriented clutch with power transmitted to the wheels via a special two-piece driveshaft and 3.46:1 rear end.
Along with a suspension re-work with input from motor racing legend John Bowe, and a seriously impressive Brembo braking package meant that this new-generation fast Ford actually lived up to it's Grand Tourer initials as a very refined performance car.

Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.
When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.
The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.
If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.
If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.
AMCS receives a fee of 7.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
