2002 Holden VY Commodore SV8 - One Owner
For sale is a one owner 2002 Holden VY SV8 Commodore in Red Hot running the matching numbers LS1 5.7 Litre V8 and 4 speed automatic transmission. For sale from Adelaide, SA.
Conceived as a sporty, budget-conscious Commodore, the SV8 was really a cleverly pared-back version of the SS Commodore. It got most of the good bits of the SS including the very same LS1 motor with exactly the same 235kW of power and 465Nm of torque. But it got 17" wheels instead of the 18s on the SS and the SS body kit was reined in a notch resulting in the SV8 retaining the boot spoiler but loosing out on the SS skirts and front apron.
Inside, the SS's interior was supplanted by a standard Commodore trim. However, you still got the brightly coloured gauges on the dash.
The SV8 suspension was based on Holden's sportier-than-standard FE2 set-up that had heavier springs and firmer dampers. Although not tuned like the SS (with its lower-profile tyres), there's not a lot in it.
Delivered new to City Holden, Adelaide on the 1st of October, 2002 this very original one owner Commodore SV8 was the personal car of the late John Ellis, who in 1970 at the age of 28 was responsible for the development of Chrysler Australia's Racing Program and as Director of Engineering was responsible for the development of the 6 pack Weber carburettors equipped Valiant Chargers.
Presented in Red Hot, this SV8 is supplied with all Holden log books and manuals and has covered a genuine 232,412 kms from new. The SV8 is powered by the matching numbers LS1 5.7L V8 engine, 4 speed Automatic gearbox and has the optional factory installed limited slip differential. As can be expected of a vehicle owned by a car enthusiast, everything works including the factory Air-conditioner and the original Blaupunkt radio/CD player.
A folder has been prepared containing documentation about the original purchase of this Holden Commodore, and includes Holden publications relevant to this car as well as service records. There is an extensive record of invoices that indicate the services/work done on the car to date.
The original Red Hot paint work and interior trim are in good condition for the age and mileage covered both showing some aging, but in overall good condition.
The SV8 comes with two sets of keys and a tow bar is fitted.
Sold with SA registration until 13th March, 2025. Available for inspection in Adelaide, SA. (Ref: 6468)
If you wish we will gladly arrange a video tour/inspection of the car using WhatsApp and of course there is no issue with door to door enclosed transport anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
