1990 HSV VN SV 5000 - No. 300 - Ex GMH MD Car
For sale is this stunning 1990 HSV VN SV 5000 Build No. 300. Originally owned by ex. Chairman and Managing Director of GMH Australia and subsequently HSV Board Chairman, John Bagshaw. Hugely admired and respected, "Bags" as he was affectionately known, was the last Australian Managing Director of Holden, running the company from 1987 until 1990. Bagshaw was best known for his involvement in establishing the Holden Dealer Team (HDT) and for invigorating the Holden brand with hero cars such as the HQ SS, GTS models, Torana XU1 and the SLR 5000. Bagshaw was an old-school salesman who brought passion into everything he tackled in life. He was also what the industry calls affectionately “a car guy”, a hugely complimentary description applied only to executives who live and dream cars.
As a true motor head and racing enthusiast who was a great believer in the ‘win on Sunday, sell on Monday’ philosophy linking motor sport with showroom sales, it is no surprise that Bagshaw chose the SV 5000 for his own personal vehicle and in fact owned this particular car for a number of years after leaving the Holden top job. Of course the car comes with the original NSW registration papers and the original log books in John Bagshaw's name. In excellent condition throughout, this HSV executive cruiser is all matching numbers, running the original 200kW 5 litre V8 and T-700 4 speed auto gearbox.
In signature British Racing Green SV paint, original except for some touch ups to the side skirts, bonnet and the front and rear bars. The car has no scratches or dents at all including the glass. Having travelled a mere documented 133,251 klms from new, she is ready for a new chapter with the next HSV aficionado.
The interior is in excellent condition with working climate controlled A/C, power windows, power steering and cruise control. The hood lining is in perfect condition and the original radio comes with the car. Loads of HSV documentation including log books, the original HSV authenticity certificate and first NSW registration paperwork in John Bagshaw's name. Excellent boot mat, tools, all original SV 5000 rims in excellent condition with as new Yokahama tyres and original unused spare.
A great example of this HSV variant and an important car due to its original ownership in the hands of one of Holden's executives most responsible for the glory days of Holden, HDT and HSV. Located in Cairns, QLD. (Ref. 5362)
