1987 Holden VL Calais Turbo - Venetian Red … (SOLD)

She might look like your Grandad's 1987 VL Calais but this Venetian Red Calais is hiding a turbo charged secret under the bonnet. Up for sale and located in Brisbane, QLD.

Modified now just over ten years ago, this Calais now runs a turbo on the original 6 cylinder engine. Boost is @15psi delivering a stonking 227Kw of power to the rear wheels!!!

The list of engine modifications to this sleeper include a Nistune ECU, Wade 818b camshaft with machined blocks and 1006D8 Valve springs to suit. A GT3076R / Hypergear atr43 turbocharger, a standard turbo exhaust manifold and intake manifold, XF throttle body upgrade, 3" Manta Stainless steel exhaust system with high flow cat and custom turbo dump pipe. R33 Rb26 Yellow top GTR Injectors re-conditioned and flow tested before installation, Rb25 Air Regulator with new plug to suit, genuine Nissan Z32 AFM, Bosch 979 fuel pump, Piebirg intake fuel pump, new CAS and plug, new Copper and Brass ADRAD radiator, new Thermostat, Water pump and Timing belt kit. All with receipts.

The power is delivered through a 4 speed Jatco VL Turbo transmission, with manual valve body, TCE 2800 converter, Kevlar bands, TCE Trans cooler plus more rated at 300KW. A VL Turbo Borg Warner LSD with 3.45 ratio 31 Spline axles, rated up to 700HP.

Stopping power is via a VT twin spot front brake upgrade with VS brake Booster and VT master cylinder. The Calais is fitted with a 27mm Whiteline adjustable front sway bar, 20mm Heavy Duty super pro rear sway bar, Super Pro front & rear end suspension bushes, Monroe GT Sport shocks, King Springs with adjustable panhard rod.

The car was resprayed in the original colour Venetian Red in 2016 and the car presents in immaculate and rust free condition. The original Madeira Red interior is in immaculate condition with original tape deck radio and instructions.

The VL Calais rims have been restored and machined wrapped in Pirelli tyres. The Calais has recently had its front sun visor removed though GMH side louvres and rear Aunger louvres remain. The 80L drop tank has been resprayed in two pac silver with black straps and a Piebirg in-tank fuel pump.

The Calais was delivered to first owner on 20.08.1987 at Graeme Blanchard Holden in Dandenong. The current owner purchased the car from the original owner over 12 years ago and the car has covered a genuine 101,483 kilometres from new and is supplied with the original VL owners handbook/log book, radio instructions, brochures and warranties.
