History:

The gentleman I bought it off was a Mr Sid Taber - he was 100 years old, (he had to hand his license in when 99 years old). Mr Taber purchased the car brand new when he was 72 years old on the 3rd Aug 1979 from his local Ford dealership - (Belmore Motors) in Junee, NSW.

For the first 6 months of production all Fairlanes were factory fitted with the 302 V8's. In Oct 1979 prompted by research indicating the V8's were losing flavour, Ford announced that the standard Fairlane & LTD power plant would be the 4.1's.

Mr Taber waited 4 months for delivery, as he wanted the rare "Chocolate Brown" factory interior. The only options the car had was dealer fitted sun visor & rear venetian.

When I obtained delivery of the car it had only 72,300 original kms - it now has 75,000 kms.

To prove this, the car came with full factory logbooks - which I have.

Mr Taber always garaged the car & the only driving it done was locally & to Wagga & back with a trip to Adelaide S.A its only interstate trip.

To obtain a VIC RWC the only thing the car required was a new windscreen (still had the original one) & a sleeve kit put through the power steering pump.

The vehicle is on its 2nd set of tyres only.

Since I purchased the car all I have done to it is regas the A/C (which works fine), & a fair bit of detailing.

The Fairlane still has its original carpets with everything working on the car including the electric aerial, rear demister & Am radio etc.

In Sept 2007 I drove the car to the Australian Muscle Car Masters at Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway & back (1,300kms) - where it didn't miss a beat.

This Fairlane runs beautifully & only gets driven on rare occasions.
