Here is a super rare one of only fifty built 5.0 litre V8 and 4 speed manual Holden VB SL/E top of the line Commodore. The first of the legendary Commodores, this very early build VB is presented for sale in very original and unmolested condition.
Original Sandlewood paint and Buckskin velour trim with matching numbers 5.0 litre (153Hp) 308ci red V8 and super rare M21 4 speed manual combination makes this a highly desirable Commodore for the collector. This SL/E is rust and damage free with excellent paint and chrome and immaculate trim featuring factory Burr walnut dash, A/C (supplied, not fitted), power steering, original AM radio, power aerial, intermittent windscreen wipers, headlight wiper/washers and a genuine 147,502 kms on the clock. Factory dual exhaust in stainless steel with Pacemaker extractors and riding on genuine original 15 x 6 inch SL/E alloy rims with excellent tyres and original SL/E spare, tools and boot carpet.
The VB Commodore first hit the Dealer showrooms in November, 1978 replacing the HZ Holden as the sensational new look and much smaller European flavoured Aussie family sedan. It won Wheels Car of the Year in 1979 and was widely praised in the media for its value for money, ground breaking design for Australia and engineering sophistication.
This super rare example is a true survivor and would have to be seen as the precursor to Brock's famous VC HDT Commodore that followed in 1980 and the amazing 40 years of Commodores that were to follow! Only fifty 5 litre 4 speed manual gearbox SL/E Commodores were built. How many survive is anyone's guess! Here is your opportunity to secure this rare and desirable Holden Commodore for your collection.
