1978 Holden HZ GTS 5 Litre V8
Now for sale this rare unrestored 1978 HZ GTS 5 Litre V8 (Monaro) in Flamenco Red with Buckskin and cloth trim, located in Perth, WA.
The last of the second generation Monaros (by HZ times known simply as the GTS) the HZ is relatively rare with an estimated 1,438 built prior to the model replacement in December, 1979 with the VB Commodore. This stunning example is now for sale from a serious car collection in Perth and is presented in factory Flamenco Red running the most sought after 5 Litre V8 and T-400 combo.
Purchased by the current owner in 2018 from the original family owners, the GTS has covered a genuine 152,333 Klms from new and presents in near showroom original and unrestored condition throughout. Originally sold through G&B Motors in Wynnum, QLD, the GTS was ordered with factory integrated Air Conditioning, power steering and AM radio with electric aerial. The GTS is also fitted with lots of rare NASCO accessories including front windscreen weather shield, door weather shields, mud flaps, body protector side stripes and rear Aunger louvre.
The GTS is still coated in the original acrylic Flamenco paint and is in exceptional unmarked condition throughout. The engine bay is day one with original hoses, fan shroud, working A/C and all body/chassis tags are in place and have never been removed from the car. The GTS has been lovingly maintained and drives beautifully and effortlessly.
The interior is exceptional with all original trim, door cards, dash and instrumentation, steering wheel, carpets and hood lining. Everything works as it should including the A/C and the original AM radio.
Running 14" GTS wheels and near new red wall tyres. The boot is in excellent condition with perfect boot carpet and the factory original tools.
This was the first Holden to be fitted with the RTS Radial Tuned Suspension and according to Modern Motor magazine - "At last! The Holden handles."
Controversially it was to be the last GTS Monaro for more than 20 years but no Monaro badge is to be found anywhere on this model.
Here is perhaps the best surviving example of the HZ GTS, heavily optioned and immaculately presented and without doubt a rare and appreciating Holden.
