1978 Ford XC Fairmont GXL 351 V8 Power Pack - 3999 Ford Special Vehicles ... (SOLD)

1978 Update XC Fairmont GXL 351 T-Bar auto Powerpack car, now for sale from our Sydney Showroom.

The GT name plate may have been gone from the XC model range but the XC Fairmont GXL 5.8 Litre V8 Power Pack as it was known was a GT in every sense of the word.

According to motoring journo Peter Wherrett from the well received Torque program that aired on the ABC in the 70s, the car was in his opinion, the best sorted Falcon he had ever driven. He loved the interior design, the supportive seats and the dash layout. He said the brakes were spectacularly good and the performance was not quite a GT but certainly not far off it.

For sale is a true survivor example of the XC Fairmont GXL 351 V8. In Desert Gold with Saddle cloth trim, this stunning GXL is presented in amazing condition throughout and has been maintained with excellent care and attention to detail.

According to the Ford Verification letter, the XC GXL was first owned by 3999 Ford Special Vehicles potentially as an executive vehicle and then retailed through Bryan Byrt Ford at Mt. Gravatt in Brisbane QLD in November of 1978. The XC also comes with the original owners log books, Ford Verification letter, original keys, an XC Repair manual and a huge folder of receipts for work carried out to maintain this car is the superb condition it is presented in.

The car has covered a genuine 257,505 km from new and is factory optioned with working integrated Air conditioning, Stereo Cassette Tape Player, AM/FM Multiplex push button radio and a Tan vinyl roof.

The XC GXL has had a closed door respray in the factory Desert Gold but door jambs, engine bay and boot present in original factory condition and all factory applied stickers and markings are all still in place. The compliance plates have never been removed and the chassis tag noting the G.X.L option is still to be found on the rail behind the driver's side headlight.

The engine is all matching numbers and still features the original Carter Thermo Quad carby and factory manifold. Mechanically the car has been serviced thoroughly with new parts fitted as required to keep this car in perfect running order. The GXL is fitted with working optional Air conditioning and factory Power steering.

The interior is in amazing condition with the seat trims all in good condition, the carpets, hood lining and door cards all in excellent condition as is the dash, gauges and steering wheel. Even the clock work!

The car runs 15" chrome 12 slots with skull caps and comes with a set of 5 original factory GXL alloy rims.

The boot is in all original condition with original boot mat and tools still in place plus a spare.
