For sale from our Sydney Showroom.
The XC Falcon Cobra has certainly earned its place in the Australian history books. Following the Falcons famous 1, 2 win at the 1977 Bathurst 1,000 in the capable hands of Allan Moffat and Colin Bond, Ford's marketing gurus developed the XC Falcon Cobra to celebrate this great victory. In doing so, Ford created an automotive first, offering for the first time, a limited edition build of only 400 Hardtops. Two hundred XC Cobras were fitted with the 5.8L 351 Cleveland V8 and 200 received the 4.9L 302 Cleveland V8.
With the Cobra build, Ford offered for the first time a designated number of the Cobras that were equipped with automatic or manual gearboxes as well as options including power steering, power windows and factory integrated air conditioning. All Cobras were fitted with dual exhausts, 4 wheel disc brakes, LSD 9" rear end and Option 96 Cobra dress up pack which included front and rear spoilers, painted bumpers and interior and exterior Cobra badging.
For sale is Cobra Build No. 202. One of 370 Cobras known as Option 96 spec, it was built as one of the regular road-going versions, and one of only 100 XC Cobras built with the 302 Cleveland V8 and 4 speed manual gearbox combo. Cobra 202 features the standard Cobra features starting with the GS Rallyee Pack option and adding dual exhausts, 4 wheel disc brakes, LSD 9" rear end and Option 96 Cobra dress up pack which included front and rear spoilers, painted bumpers and interior and exterior Cobra badging.
Cobra # 202 was the subject to a partial restoration between 2002 and 2004. The XC was bare metal resprayed in 2004 and the car comes with a photo album recording the restoration process. The XC also received a full engine rebuild in 2003 with receipt supplied as well as a full suspension and brake system rebuild in 2002. The interior has remained unrestored and is still fitted with the original seat trims, door cards, dash and crash pad, steering wheel, gauges, carpets and hood lining. The interior is in very good condition and everything is working properly. The XC has been fitted with Ford Selectaire airconditioning which is fitted to the car but needs belts and regassing. The Cobra is complete with the Ford Build Sheet, the original owners manual, restoration photo album, receipts and is showing 222,857 Klms on the clock.
Mechanically, the matching numbers 302 Cleveland has been rebuilt and the car still runs and drives beautifully. A receipt is attached in the photo gallery outlining the works completed in the rebuild. The gearbox and diff have been serviced and are in good condition.
