1973 XB GS Fairmont 302 V8 - One Family Owned (SOLD)

ONE FAMILY OWNED since new and one of the very first XBs built. This V8 Fairmont was ordered in factory Cosmic Blue (an XA colour) with unblemished original Chamois trim. Featuring the all matching numbers 302 Cleveland V8 and T-Bar C4 automatic transmission. The Fairmont has covered a genuine 95,712 miles from new with log books, owners manuals, factory build sheet and dealer brochure. The car is damage free, completely rust free and has never had any rust issues.

This XB has been carefully looked after and has always garaged. THe paint received a doors closed refresh about three years ago. The interior is exceptional. In 1975 a Motor Trimmer made genuine sheep skin front seat covers for the car, that fitted snugly on the seats & have been on them ever since. Even the driver's seat is like new with no cracks or splits. Same goes for the dash, and the original carpets are in fantastic condition and the parcel shelf shows nil fading.

The car has had some tasteful 'Day 2 / Dealership' added extras including the Beige vinyl roof, Aunger rear venetian and Performance Hotwire mag wheels. Factory fitted power steering was later complimented with factory style integrated air-conditioning that has been upgraded with a modern compressor and runs perfect. A remote boot release lever was also fitted when new by the Dealership. The GS Rally Pack including mint GS steering wheel, gauges, fluted bonnet and GS stripes was also fitted later in the car's life.

Dual exhausts with extractors were fitted in the late 1980s and a 4 barrel Holley carby was fitted 35 yrs ago. The rear leaf springs have been reset & one extra leaf added. Four wheel disc brake Borg Warner disc brake rear axle was added in the late 1980s, with a rear sway bar.

The XB Fairmont has recently been treated to a reconditioned power brake booster, flexi brake hoses, master cylinder, power steering box, ball joints, bushes in front end etc, transmission seal kit and service. The original heads have been reconditioned with hardened valve seats for ULP and new valve lifters. A new Bosch alternator, MSD electronic ignition from Rocket Industries (original items have been kept) has been fitted.

The owner still retains the original 70s Aunger black rear window louvre and the front sun visor & weather shields which were taken off 25 years ago.

A bluetooth sound set-up is installed but the Owner still has the factory push button radio cassette with rear fader with the 'Ford solid state car radio owner's manual'.

This special XB Fairmont still retains the original factory special instructions build sheet (green print) usually stuck on top of the glove box. Plus the Dealer sales brochure for 1974, workshop manual and receipt file are included with the car.
