1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 351 4V Cobra Jet V8
In 1969 while NASA was heading to the moon and aviators like Chuck Yeager were regularly breaking the sound barrier, Ford came up with their own high speed Mustang known as the Mach 1. Slotting in between the GT and the Boss and Shelby Mustangs, the Mach 1 proved a very popular name plate that continues to this day. For sale is a stunning example of the last of the first generation Mach 1 Mustang Sports Roofs presented in Wimbledon White with Medium Blue trim. For sale from our Sydney Showroom.
Running the Q code 266bhp 351 cu in (5.8 L) Cleveland Cobra Jet V8 with 4-barrel carburetor this 1973 model Mustang Mach 1 looks fast just sitting still. But crank over the 351 Cleveland and there's no doubting the manufacturers intentions when it came to empowering this Mustang muscle car. Imported to Australia from California in the late 1970s and converted to right hand drive at that time by T-Bird Custom Engineering in Melbourne, this Mach 1 has got to be one of the finest examples on the road today.
With a genuine 64,928 miles on the clock, this Mach 1 has been lovingly maintained and enjoyed by the current owner over the last 24 years. The Mustang was repainted on the outside only in 2 Pack paint in 1999 with the black out bonnet infill smoothed and clear coated for a perfect smooth finish. The three tone Medium Blue Vinyl trim is in totally original and immaculate condition throughout with all working gauges, factory Air conditioning, power steering and working clock and radio.
The right hand drive conversion is second to none meaning the Mach 1 is a true pleasure to drive and of course there is plenty of mumbo if you want to give it some gas. The owner has fastidiously maintained the Mach 1 mechanically with regular servicing every August 1st and has recently reconditioned the radiator and the front brakes have new discs and pads fitted and new wheel bearings. He has also fitted LED globes, indicators, stop tail and parking lights. An anti theft system is also fitted.
The Mach 1 is riding on 15" US Dragways with near new 245/60 R15 BF Goodrich tyres. And in the boot is the factory space saver spare and tools.
The Mustang comes with three sets of keys, the original Kansas license plate, the original grill badge, spare locking fuel cap, a custom car cover, dash mat, floor mats, spare belts plus the original AM radio.
Come and inspect this stunning example of an early Mach 1 Mustang. You'd have to agree that this 351 empowered Mustang would sit perfectly next to your modern Mach 1.
