Genuine 1972 Monaro LS V8 Coupe purchased by the current owner in 2005 and transformed into a CAMS LOG booked Group Nc Historic race car. For sale from Canberra, ACT.

Originally purchased as a stock 253 V8 powered HQ LS Monaro, the car has been fully converted for use in Group Nc Historic Touring car racing by the current race enthusiast owner. The restoration began in February, 2006 and was completed in January, 2009. The car has a CAMS log book and this will come with the car. It has also been engineered by Roy and Ben Wilkinson and the engine was built by Peter O’Brien and Warren Gay, of Fyshwick Head Services.

Since completion, the car has competed in three race meetings and some practice sessions including:

From 2010 the HQ has been in storage, the engine disassembled, serviced and rechecked and since then the car has been regularly started, checked and serviced but has not been raced.

The car is in excellent condition with no rust or damage.

Mechanically, the HQ runs a period correct 010 Chev 350 4 bolt block with Eagle ESP forged H beam rods, Eagle forged crank, JE Pistons, Milondon Sump, 3927186 64cc heads, (3947041 64cc heads –spare), Elderbrock Victor series water pump then trough to a Muncie 4 speed gearbox with Hurst shifter and 10 bolt + 12 bolt diffs with forged axles and spools, custom tail shafts, Magna fuel pumps, Tilton 7 ¼ triple plate clutch, Tilton release bearing assembly, Lakewood bellhousing, Willwood balance bar, Tilton master cylinders, I C and E ignition, Taipan XP muffler and custom exhaust. The car is set up to run on Avgas.

There are lots of original Monaro LS parts that go with the car including original LS twin headlight front, factory air-conditioning unit, 4 spare doors, rear window, spare diffs, sets of springs, spare axles, set of heads, Inlet manifolds, full corvette brake set to suit Monaro, 32mm discs, standard HQ guards and front, 2 spare wheels, tail shafts, Dorian timer and various original parts from the car (kept when conversion was made).

The interior is fitted with a Sparco race seat, stock rear seat and passenger seat with a CAMS approved Neil Bates full roll cage, original dash with race gauges mounted on an aluminium panel and a Momo steering wheel. The car is fitted a 5 point Schroth race harness with standard belts in the passenger seat and rear seat.

Brakes are Jaguar calipers with Holden discs and original modified rear drums. The car also comes with a brand new set of Corvette calipers, 32mm discs with aluminium hub.

Suspension is a combination of King Springs and Koni shocks, Whiteline sway bar on the front and another on the rear.

Wheels are 15" Minilite style alloy rims with Yokahama Advan 205x60xR15 semi slick race tyres on the front and Avon 245x60xR15 Semi Slicks on the rear.

The car also comes with the original SA registration plates RRP251, engineering paperwork, CAMS log book and loads of paperwork and receipts.

The HQ can be either raced in Historic Group Nc, used for Hill climbs, Targas or restored back to an original HQ LS Monaro. For your inspection in Canberra, ACT. (Ref. 5936)

Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.

When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.

The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.

If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.

If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.

AMCS receives a fee of 7.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
