For sale is one tough 1972 Fairmont Hardtop in Ford Octane 2 pack paint with Black GT style trim running a big dollar 393 Stroker Cleveland dynoed at 470hp. For sale from our Sydney Showroom.

Thanks to the limited build numbers of the Falcon Hardtop and due to the incredible exposure given to the Falcon Hardtop in movies like Mad Max and even through Eric Bana's adventures with his Hardtop, the Falcon Hardtop is one of the most sought after models among Aussie car enthusiasts. Finding a nicely sorted example that really highlights the natural toughness of these Hardtops is rare. And building one is never an inexpensive exercise.

So finding one in this condition that has been tastefully modded is a rarity. Purchased by the current owner in 2004 as a rolling shell, the Fairmont sat on a rotisserie for many years and was completed in time for the Echuca Hardtop Show in 2013.

Mechanically, the XA Hardtop runs a 470 HP 393 Cleveland stroker motor built by Graham Silk Race Engines of Queanbeyan, NSW with Scat crank and rods, roller rockers, forged pistons, CHI heads, comp cam, an 850 Holley carby, MSD ignition, Edlebrock manifold and an aluminium radiator with twin thermo fans and a working metal GT shaker. Power goes through to a Tremec T56 Magnum 6 speed gearbox with Ace Comp clutch and a QuickTime bell housing. A custom strengthened tailshaft transfers the power to the 9" disc brake rear end with 31 Spline axles and a 2.75 Eaton Tru Track centre.

On the inside, the Fairmont has been retrimmed in Black Vinyl Fairmont/GT trim with custom door cards, a GT console with shift light and Monster tacho, GT style dash with Phantom gauges and a custom timber steering wheel. Hood lining, sun visors and carpet are also new items.

All suspension parts have been rebuilt and XF disc brakes are fitted to the rear to help pull up the beast.

The XA is riding on super expensive 15" 3 piece Simmons with Nexen 225/50R15s on the front and Hankook Ventus 265/50R15s at the rear.

In the boot is the relocated battery box, a 36 gallon fuel tank, boot carpet and spare wheel.

Make sure you click through to the video link and listen to this beast roar. Like us, we think you'll find this car pretty damn intoxicating.

Available for inspection in our Sydney showroom. (AMCS Ref. 6447)

And if you like AMCS will gladly arrange a video inspection/road test of the car using WhatsApp and of course there is no issue with door to door freight delivery anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
