1971 HQ GTS Monaro 350 V8 4 Speed Manual
When it comes to rare Holdens, there is nothing rarer than a HQ GTS Monaro Coupe running the mighty 350 V8 and combined with the rock crusher Muncie 4 speed gearbox. Located in our Sydney Showroom. Offers invited over $250,000.
Of the 405 HQ GTS 350 Coupes built, more than half were fitted with the T-400 Automatic gearbox making the manual cars very rare and ultra desirable. GMH marketed the HQ as a "Great Way To Move" and nothing in the HQ range moved quite the way a 350 manual Coupe did. And in addition to the low build numbers, the HQ was GMH's final 81837 model making this one rare Lion.
Proudly presented for sale is this stunning Lone O'Ranger 350 GTS Monaro Coupe with factory Black and white Houndstooth trim. Running the all matching numbers 350 Chevrolet V8 featuring the famous McKinnon block and bullet proof 4 speed Muncie gearbox with Hurst shifter all packaged in what many believe to be the finest looking motor car ever made in Australia.
In the care of the current owner for more than 15 years, the HQ GTS has had an exterior paint job in 2 pak more than 15 years ago and a retrim in the factory correct Houndstooth trim which was completed 4 years ago by Warren Smith. The interior also received new hood lining, door trims and carpets. It has a few 80s style embelishments in the engine bay and interior instrument gauges but all very easily rectified if your taste is more along the lines of factory stock presentation.
This special Monaro, was believed to be originally a Holden executive car, then sold to it's first owner in Adelaide, SA and purchased by the current owner as a wedding gift. Celebrating her 50th anniversary in August, 2021, this HQ 350 is one of a very few genuine surviving HQ GTS 350 Monaros in existence. A genuine matching numbers car with matching chassis number and ID plates that retain their factory rivets. The GTS has been lovingly appreciated by the current owner and is in a very good maintained condition and is ready for the next “custodian” to enjoy and appreciate.
Mechanically, many thousands of dollars have been spent to maintain this car to a very high level with the current enthusiast owner spending countless hours and many dollars tracking down and refurbishing the best original parts to ensure this Monaro is a survivor. The HQ is still fitted with the original Rochester Carby that has been rebuilt. After market additions include the fitment of an Edelbrock manifold, HQ power steering system and extractors.
With so few HQ GTS 350 Monaros ever built and very few surviving, it is no wonder that the HQ GTS 350 has been long recognised as one of the most collectible and desirable Holdens ever produced. When was the last time you ever saw an all-matching numbers Holden HQ GTS 350 Monaro with the infamous and legendary factory Muncie gearbox? Importantly when was the last time you saw one for sale or more importantly when will you see another one for sale again?
Don't miss this absolutely unique opportunity to own one of Holden's true Hero cars. This HQ GTS 350 comes with a Holden Historical Services Production Report to confirm the build details and the authenticity of the VIN, Chassis and engine numbers as well as the options fitted. This is an outstanding collectable car, not to be missed.
