1971 Ford ZD Fairlane - 351 V8 T-Bar ... (SOLD)

Big is beautiful. And in 1971 Ford had the Australian luxury car market sewn up with the full sized ZD Fairlane 500. Big on the outside and roomy on the inside, the ZD Fairlane 500 was powered by the trusty 302 Windsor V8. But for an extra $200 you could option the ZD with the same 351 V8 Cleveland (albeit with 2V heads) that powered the shaker topped XY GT Falcon. And if you kept ticking the option boxes, you could make your Fairlane one very special high performance limo.

For sale from Perth, WA is an unrestored Vintage Burgundy ZD Fairlane heavily optioned with the 351 Cleveland V8, T- Bar FMX automatic transmission, factory integrated Air conditioning, Superfringe Radio, a Beige Vinyl roof and 9" LSD. This flagship ZD is still running the all matching numbers K code 351 2V Cleveland V8 as supplied by the Ford factory detuned from the GT's 300 bhp to 250 bhp making the ZD a true home grown factory built muscle bound luxury car.

Purchased by the current owner in 2006, the Fairlane features mostly original paint with some paint imperfections, some humidity blistering and an older repair on the LHS rear door that is flaking. The engine bay, door jambs and boot all feature the original factory paint. Check out the engine bay. Showing all the original paint dabs, stickers, factory Air conditioning and power steering and the obligatory tell tale signs of a battery explosion back in the 70s.

And take a good look at the trim. In showroom condition with original seat coverings, crash pad, dash and gauges, steering wheel, door cards, hood lining and carpets. Amazing for 52 years of age. Showing 86,518 miles on the odometer. With the factory optioned integrated Air Conditioning still in place and ready to cool you down. And the factory Superfringe radio there to entertain. Even the original boot mat is still there plus the superb condition beige vinyl roof. And those classic Fairlane hub caps are in perfect condition with excellent white walled rubber plus a set of Ford 14" alloy mags currently on the car.
