The Australian public had never seen anything like it before. Out of the blue came a car that broke all the rules. Big and bold with black out bonnets, lairy side stipes, chunky chrome GT badging, a Super Roo emblazoned on the front guard, bonnet pins, an air duct and under the bonnet a 351 Windsor V8. And boy did Ford get the formula right. 2,287 XW GTs were sold by Ford. Nearly 3,000 if you add in the GTHOs. And Candy Apple Red was one of the favourite colours, second only to Diamond White.

Now for sale from Perth, WA, this stunning example of the XW GT Falcon was originally sold by well known Ford dealer and racing supporter Lynas Motors in Perth, WA. Manufactured in January, 1970, this XW GT is one of the last GTs to be fitted with the legendary 351 Windsor V8. January 1970 was the changeover month from Windsor 351 to the Cleveland 351 GT engine. There is a lot of conjecture over which 351 is better. The lighter weight easy reving Windsor engine has a huge following especially in the US where many race engines were based on the Windsor V8. Even the last FG GT-F features an evolution of the Windsor 5 Litre V8.

This particular GT was resprayed in 2006 in 2 Pack and presents in beautiful condition to this day. All chrome, stainless and glass is in excellent condition. The GT features all it's original drive line including the factory matching numbers 351 4V Windsor V8, original 4 speed Top Loader gearbox and 9" 3.25 LSD diff. The GT is running a Holley 750DP carby, Edelbrock manifold and MSD distributor and the owner will provide the original cast iron 4V inlet manifold, distributor and leads with the sale of the car. The engine bay features the original radiator support, the Fomoco radiator, a fan shroud, factory wiper motor and washer bottle. As you will be aware, these original parts are getting super hard to source nowadays.

The interior is all day one including the hood-lining, visors, crash pad, original dash facia, glovebox woodgrain, steering wheel, seat belts, rear seats and door trims with only the front seats retrim in black basket weave. The GT is showing 149,798 miles believed to be original.

The boot compartment features the original 36 gallon fuel tank and spare wheel tie down and fuel line breather. The boot has been rust proofed. A genuine spare 12 slot rim is supplied along with the original factory jack and bag.

This 1/70 GT rides on 12 slot rims with excellent Michelin 205x70R14 tyres.

There are not many original survivor cars left these days and these are the cars collectors choose because of their unquestionable authenticity.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to acquire this very rare genuine GT. Located in Perth, WA area for your inspection. (Ref. 6238)

We will also gladly arrange a video inspection of the car using WhatsApp and of course there is no issue with door to door freight delivery anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
