1970 XW GT Falcon

The Australian public had never seen anything like it before. Out of the blue came a car that broke all the rules. This was not a car for the conservatives. Big and bold with black out bonnets, lairy side stipes, chrome GT badging, a Super roo emblazoned on the front guard, bonnet pins, an air duct and under the bonnet a 351 Cleveland V8. And boy did Ford get the formula right. 2,287 XW GTs were sold by Ford. Nearly 3,000 if you add in the GTHOs. And nothing shouts GT more that the race bred colour known in the Ford vernacular by the paint code F117 or Brambles Red.

AMCS is proud to offer for sale this stunning example of the XW GT Falcon sold originally through Peter Warren Ford, Liverpool, NSW. According to the ACCHS Report, this stunning XW GT is one of only 109 XW GT Falcons with the same paint and trim combination and one of only 11 with the exact same build specification. The current owner has just finished a concours nut and bolt bare metal restoration and the GT has already won Best restored XW/XY and Best Paint at the Geelong All Ford Day.

The GT features the fully rebuilt factory matching numbers 351 4V Cleveland. A 4 speed Top Loader gearbox has been professionally installed to replace the FMX automatic which has been reconditioned and is supplied with the car for fitment if the new owner would like the car back to automatic. The GT runs the original 9" diff that has also been fully reconditioned. Mechanically, the GT features all the day one date matching components including the crank, rods, pistons, original carby, water pump, manifolds, sump etc. And receipts are supplied for all the restoration work.

The car features all its original glass with the exception of the windscreen and features the original dealer sticker on the rear window. The undercarriage is in mint condition with factory style overspray, new old stock absorbers and factory correct upper and lower ball joints and tie rods in mint condition.

The interior is all brand new including the hood-lining, visors, crash pad, restored original dash facia, glovebox woodgrain, mint restored steering wheel, seat belts, front and rear seats, door trims etc.

The engine bay presents with correct Auto lite distributor, exhaust manifolds, Fomoco radiator and fan shroud, correct battery terminals, restored factory wiper motor and washer bottle, all original decals and paint markings.

The boot compartment features the original 36 gallon fuel tank with spare wheel tie down, a new rubber boot mat a genuine spare 5 slot fitted with a correct Dunlop Aquajet tyre and the original factory jack and bag.

This 4/70 GT rides on it's factory correct genuine rivetted 5 slot rims with excellent as new redwall tyres.

There are not many GTs that come to the market that have been restored with this level of attention to detail.

Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.

When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.

The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.

If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.

If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.

AMCS receives a fee of 7.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
