1970 XW Falcon GTHO Phase 2 - Bathurst Race History (SOLD)

Genuine Brambles Red XW GTHO Phase 2 with Bathurst race history, originally owned and driven by well known entrepreneur Kim Aunger (Aunger Wheels & Accessories) and co-driven by John Walker. Issued with a CAMS log book and Gold Certificate of Description - the highest verification in the country - acknowledging that the car presented today is as it was raced in 1970.

Race history includes the Hardie Ferodo 500 at Bathurst in October, 1970, where the car retired due to engine problems (body was unscathed). The car then raced the following weekend at Mallala Race track in South Australia, won the race and broke the lap record, again surviving unscathed. The GTHO was then laid up by Aunger before being returned to a road car and then sold to the second owner.

Owned by the same family since 1973 the car has covered a genuine 89,000 miles from new. The GTHO was repainted approximately 17 years ago in its original Brambles Red. The interior is all totally original and in exceptional condition throughout.

The GTHO was transported by V8 Supercars to Bathurst in 2018 to be displayed in the Heroes and Legends Marquee and completed a lap of honour around the track in the Driver's Parade. On display in the Legends Marquee the car not only looked amazing but entertained the crowds all weekend when started up.

The GTHO has personalised Queensland plates - RGJ 061, with the same letters/numbers and colour as the original SA plates. All race stickers as raced at Bathurst in 1970 (can be removed if required). Roll cage is bolted into place and can be easily removed. This is a significant and verified rare survivor Australian Ford race car. An important part of Australian motor racing history and a must to be preserved for future generations to enjoy and admire. Available for private inspection. Brisbane, QLD car. (Ref. 5195)
