1970 LC GTR Torana ... (SOLD)

Under the direction of HDT supremo Harry Firth, GMH made a massive change in direction replacing the big V8 Monaros with the nimble 6 cylinder Torana as their main race track weapon.

Although not endowed with the powerplant of the XU-1, the LC GTR Torana did feature the sporty good looks of the XU-1. With a 161 cui powerplant lifted out of the base Belmont sedan and given a modified cylinder head, camshaft, a dual-throat carburettor, a four-speed manual transmission, disc brakes up front, some nice wheels and fancy instruments, GMH had built an affordable and super popular pocket rocket targeted at the youthful market.

Jump forward 50 years and AMCS presents for sale one very tidy LC GTR Torana. Originally specified in Sebring Orange with Sandalwood trim, the LC GTR has been restored in Salamanca Red with black trim. The restoration was rotisserie and although many years ago, the car still presents in excellent condition inside and out.

The 161S 2600 motor has been replaced at some stage with a 186S 6 cylinder with Triple 1.5 SUs, an XU-1 cam, an XU-1 head plus the factory specified M20 Aussie 4 speed gearbox and Banjo 3.08 diff. The LC GTR also features a genuine XU-1 fuel tank with cover, a 5th Bathurst Globe spare and wheel jack/brace.

The interior has been fully restored with all gauges refurbished and using NOS trim. Recent work has included rebuilding of all the brakes, suspension and exhaust systems with receipts.

Originally sold through Shack Motor P/L out of Fremantle, WA the car is showing 88,369 miles and comes with a Holden Historical Services verification letter.

The car is registered with full Vic registration and can be supplied with personalised GTR HOL Victorian number plates.
