1969 Ford Falcon XW GT - Silver Fox …
The Australian public had never seen anything like it before. Out of the blue came a car that broke all the rules. Big and bold with black out bonnets, lairy side stipes, chunky chrome GT badging, a Super Roo emblazoned on the front guard, bonnet pins, an air duct and under the bonnet a 351 Windsor V8. And boy did Ford get the formula right. 2,287 XW GTs were sold by Ford. Nearly 3,000 if you add in the GTHOs. And Silver Fox was one of the GT hero colours boldly set off by those awesome day glow orange reflective Super Roo stripes.
Now for sale from our Sydney Showroom, this XW GT Falcon has been reshelled at some point of its life but features all the correct body stampings, engine number and compliance plate. Originally sold by well known Ford dealer and racing supporter Courtney & Patterson of Heidleberg, Victoria, this GT is a one of only 131 Silver Fox XW GT Falcons built and one of one with the specific options fitted. Manufactured in September, 1969, this XW GT is fitted with the legendary 351 Windsor V8. There is a lot of conjecture over whether the 351 Windsor or Cleveland were the better of Ford's 351 engines. However, the lighter weight easy revving Windsor engine has a huge following especially in the US where many race engines were based on the Windsor V8. And even the last FG GT-F features an evolution of the Windsor 5 Litre V8.
This particular GT was resprayed in 2004 in 2 Pack and presents in excellent condition to this day. All chrome, stainless and glass is in excellent condition. The GT features the matching numbers 351 4V Windsor V8, original 3 speed Automatic gearbox and 9" 3.00 LSD diff. The GT is running a Holley 600 CFM carby, Edelbrock manifold, Pacemaker extractors and electronic distributor. The current owner has fitted a reconditioned alternator, starter motor, battery and relay. All oils have been changed recently and brakes and suspension are all in good order.
The original saddle spec'd interior has been treated to a retrim with the super cool Hawaiian cloth trim inserts with the hood-lining, visors, crash pad, dash facia, glovebox woodgrain, steering wheel, seat belts, rear seats and door trims all day one items. The GT is showing 59,693 miles.
The boot compartment features a 16.4 gallon fuel tank, spare wheel tie down and fuel line breather. A genuine spare 12 slot rim is supplied.
This 9/69 GT rides on 12 slot rims with excellent Duro DP3000 195x70R14 tyres all round.
And while it may not be 100% day one original in all departments, it still represents great value for a plated GT and is certainly a more attractive option versus a GT Replica and is definitely a car that can be driven and enjoyed without risking the bank.
NSW registered until 20-10-2024 with GT33XW custom plates included for the NSW buyer. Located in our Sydney Showroom for your inspection. (Ref. 6398)
We will also gladly arrange a video inspection of the car using WhatsApp and of course there is no issue with door to door freight delivery anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
