Now for sale, this immaculate Shelby GT500 with the new for 2010 all aluminium 550hp 5.4 litre quad cam V8, and only 24,927 km from new, located in Yeppoon, QLD.

In 2006, Ford's Special Vehicle Team entered into a new business relationship with Carroll Shelby. The result was the all-new SVT Mustang Cobra which came to the market as the 2007 Ford Shelby GT500. Based on the all-new S197 Mustang platform and equipped with a special 550 horsepower supercharged version of the 5.4-litre V8, this modern-day Shelby GT500 took the muscle car world by storm with looks that mirrored the classics and the kind of power and performance previously unheard of in any factory-built Mustang.

For late 2010 the GT500 was further improved with the change to an aluminium-block version of the 5.4-liter V8. The aluminium block features six-bolt billet main bearing caps and Ford’s first use of “plasma transferred wire arc” liner coatings on the cylinder bores, which adds enough strength to get around using cast-iron liners and similar to what Mercedes-Benz started doing on its 6.2-liter AMG V-8. The GT500’s engine retains the same 90.2 millimetre bore and 105.8 mm stroke of the iron-block engine, as well as the 8.4:1 compression ratio. A larger, two-row intercooler is said to have 40 percent more cooling capacity than the single-row unit it replaced.

The new engine makes 550 horsepower at 6200 rpm, an improvement of 10 horses over the 2010 GT500. Peak torque remains unchanged at 692 Nm, but it’s delivered 250 revs lower, at 4250 rpm. Most important, the new engine shaves 46kg pounds off the iron-block V-8’s weight. In addition the GT500 got electric power assist for the steering instead of hydraulic boosting.

The combination of less weight, more power, better tyres and a revised suspension turns the Shelby into the car it always should have been. At the track, testers recorded 0 to 100 kmh in 4.1 seconds, 0 to 160 in 9.1 seconds, and the standing quarter-mile in 12.4 seconds at 188 kmh. Better than the 2010 Shelby GT500 that recorded those sprints in 4.5, 9.6, and 12.7 seconds, respectively.

Now for sale is one of these special late 2010 build Shelby GT500s. A personal import in 2011 and converted to RHD by Mustang Motorsport, Melbourne, this TWO OWNER Shelby is presented in stunning Torch Red paint with White stripes and full black leather interior. The car features the all matching numbers unmodified factory 550hp all aluminium 5.4L supercharged V8 with SVT build plaque and 6 speed manual gearbox. The 550HP side stripes and wider bonnet stripping have been added in Australia.

With a super low 24,927 kilometres from new with log books and manuals, this Shelby features all original paint in mint condition and a perfect black leather interior.

The Shelby comes with all factory Super snake gauges, head rests and is fitted with after market Foose 20" rims with Continental P255/30R-20 (Front) and 285/30ZR-20 (Rear). The Shelby is unregistered. Has been Queensland registered and has all import documentation and conversion documents and can be registered anywhere in Australia.
