1979 Ford XD Falcon GL
For many years Ford enthusiasts thought that the plastic bumper Falcons would never achieve ‘classic’ status. Although praised for their excellent comfort and road manners, huge numbers of these XD and XE Falcons were neglected into oblivion. But with their position in local Ford lore now defined, demand is climbing and increasing money is being paid for very good survivor cars.
For sale from our Sydney Showroom is one of the best survivor XD Falcons we have seen. A country Wagga, NSW car, this Falcon is a real credit to the owner. In stock impeccable condition throughout, this Falcon GL features the factory 250ci 4.1 Litre 6-cylinder with cast iron head and factory column manual 3 speed gearbox. Remarkably, the car has covered a genuine 283,847 Klms but its condition reflects a car that has covered a fraction of those kilometres. Obviously always garaged and meticulously looked after, this survivor Falcon features the mostly original Sandstone paint and Brown trim.
Recent maintenance includes a full professional service, rebuild to the gearbox, fitment of a new clutch and brand new tyres. The GL Falcon features the original AM radio.
Besides a few stone chip sized touch ups the body and paint are in good original condition with a couple of very minor rust bubbles and minor humidity blisters on the RHS rear quarter. The engine bay, door jambs and boot feature all original paint. The interior trim, dash, steering wheel, seat vinyl, belts and carpets are in near perfect condition with some wear showing to the RHS B pillar trim.
Riding on the original 14" steel rims with excellent dress rims, the Falcon comes with the original Ford dealer folder, log books, owners manual, original keys, Ford mud flaps, tow bar and the original Hillis Ford dealer sticker on the rear windscreen. Open the boot and you have a very good original boot mat, tools and spare tyre, some spare hoses and the original immaculate steering wheel.
This is a jump in and drive anywhere Falcon in exceptional condition and a great entry level collectable car or a great addition to any XD/XE Falcon collection.
On full NSW registration until October, 2022, this Falcon still features the original NSW number plates KID-912. Located in our Sydney Showroom for inspection by appointment. (Ref. 6048)
