1978 Ford LTD P6
For sale is a 1978 P6 LTD from Melbourne, Vic. Running the matching numbers 351 Cleveland originally owned by a well known Kings Cross identity. In stunning original unmolested condition throughout, the LTD comes with the original log books and if cars could talk, lots of interesting tales from the top of the Cross from the 1980s glory days.
Loved by Politicians, CEOs, Wedding Hire Companies and gentlemen from Kings Cross, the big Ford boasted a massive 121 inch wheelbase, squared-off rear mudguards, 4 head lamp front design with the signature Rolls Royce style grill and a padded vinyl roof to cover the welding seams on the extended roof. There was also a limo-styled smaller rear window, whitewall radial tyres, power steering, air conditioning, power windows, and an AM/FM stereo/cassette player — not to mention cut-pile carpeting and walnut grained dashboard inlay.
Supposedly around 200 Snow White with Cranberry Crushed Velour trim LTDs were built by Ford for the Australian Government Chauffeured Car Pool. These cars were factory fitted with a 125 Litre long range fuel tank in the boot good for a reputed 1,500 Kilometre dash across Australia. Of course this particular LTD ended up in the City Ford Showroom on Crown Street just down the hill from the Coca Cola Sign at Kings Cross destined for The Kingsgate Bridge Club of Bayswater Rd, Kings Cross which was according to documentation described as an illegal casino.
Lightly used by the original owner until 1985, the car was then sold to the second owner who held the LTD until 1990 and sold it with 42,000 km on the clock. The third owner used the car for Weddings and other functions and sold the car in 2007 with 135,000 km on the clock. Acquired by the current 4th owner in 2007, the LTD has now covered a genuine 194,499 km from new.
The LTD has been Endrusted from new and is in exceptionally good condition throughout. On the inside, the LTD is all class with the original Red Velour trim in absolutely stunning condition for its age. All gauges work as does the Air conditioning, the LTD has factory power steering, power windows and the original radio is still fitted. The car also has an older Yellow Light Car Alarm fitted and comes with two sets of keys.
Power for this big Ford comes from the matching numbers 351 cubic inch V8, with an automatic transmission and four-wheel power-assisted disc brakes — an Australian first. The car also comes with some spares and loads of receipts for all mechanical work carried out over the years. The LTD is riding on USA Minilite ROK Magnesium wheels with excellent tyres. (The original hubcaps are no longer with the car)

Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.
When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.
The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.
If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.
If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.
AMCS receives a fee of 7.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
