Super rare fully restored XA Falcon Superbird in Lime Glaze for sale. Located in our Sydney Showroom. Offers invited over $175,000.

The Ford XA Falcon 'Superbird' concept debuted at the Melbourne Motor Show in early 1973. This Superbird concept car showed a bold 'bird' outline graphic that ran down both sides, stretching from the rear bumper to the front wheel arches in bright orange on the metallic silver paint. It sure was an attention grabber and showed the direction Ford Australia was heading with their marketing and development plans.

Like Holden's 4 door SS and Valiant's Pacer, the Superbird filled a marketing niche for a budget focused sports package appealing to a younger target audience. At a much more affordable price than a GT, the Superbird, based on the Falcon 500 offered a choice of three colours - Lime Glaze/Jewel Green, Polar White/Cosmic Blue and Yellow Fire/Walnut Glow, a mild 302 V8, auto or manual transmissions, sports instrumentation and a much reduced Superbird on the rear guards and the glove box lid.

In the region of 700 Superbirds were sold. However, not a lot have survived as they were prone to rust and were certainly the poor cousin of the GT Hardtop. However, with GT prices soaring to new heights, there is a renewed interest in the XA Superbird. Luckily, we have a stunning example for sale.

In Lime Glaze with Jewel Green highlights, this genuine all matching numbers Superbird was originally sold through Jack Brabham Ford on the Hume Highway at Greenacre, Sydney and comes with the original log books, owners manual and even the original NSW number plates. The Superbird has just undergone a full back to bare metal rotisserie restoration and presents in beautiful condition throughout. Everything has been restored including a full mechanical rebuild. The owner decided to rebuild the matching numbers 302 V8 with a 351 crank and rods while feeding the fuel through a 750 Vac secondaries Holley, Hurricane extractors through to a 2 1/2" exhaust so the Superbird now has plenty of power on tap and sounds the part as well.

The original C4 automatic gearbox has been rebuilt and a Stage 2 shift kit fitted. The owner has rebuilt the brakes, suspension and upgraded the diff to a 9" for bullet proof performance. He has also added power steering and integrated Air conditioning to make driving this stunning XA a dream.

The interior has been re-trimmed in factory black, a GT steering wheel has been fitted, all gauges work and the Superbird logo on the glove box lid is still a day one item.

The Superbird is riding on brand new 15" Bathurst Globes with new red wall tyres and the boot is fitted with a new boot mat, red walled spare with Globe mag, jack and tools.

Located in our Sydney Showroom. (Ref: 5897)

If you wish, we will gladly arrange an actual/video inspection tour of the car and of course there is no issue to arrange enclosed transport door to door anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
