1971 XY Falcon GTHO Phase 3
If you could go back in a time machine to 1971 we are pretty sure that the majority would choose this combo when ordering a brand new Phase 3 off the showroom floor, code 6 Vermillion Fire with code B Black trim!
Back in 1971 renowned Ford Dealer Baldwin Ford at Brookvale NSW was right into racing, fielding the well known Raw Orange Phase 3 raced by Gary Rush and Damon Beck. This stunning Vermillion Fire XY GTHO is one of just 10 Phase 3s sold new by the Baldwin Ford dealership. It is 1 of 66 with this paint and trim combo and 1 of only 5 with this exact build specification, including the popular options of dual exterior mirrors and Superfringe Deluxe radio.
Acknowledged as the most significant Australian muscle car of its time and probably for all time, the GTHO was the fastest four door production car in the world in 1971. It has certainly earned the title on and off the track of - King of the Road!
This car is a credit to its past owners the most recent being for over 25 years. The car underwent an external acrylic paint job many years ago and still presents in immaculate condition today.
The engine runs spot on, the drive train feels tight and the car is rearing to go in excellent mechanical order. Running the matching numbers D block engine, long shaft Top Loader gearbox and 31 Spline 9" diff with 3.5:1 gears as per factory specs.
The engine has recently been removed for disassembly, inspection and refresh. Whilst removed the engine bay received a complete and accurate detail.
This car is also riding on a set of rare and correct original Bathurst Globe alloy wheels, genuine not reproduction.
The interior is mostly original retaining the original crash pad, console and door cards with only new seat facings being fitted. An outstanding genuine example of the XY GTHO we are pleased to present for any inspection.
Our recommendation - grab one of these beauties now before they turn 50 in 2021 and everyone realises just how significant these surviving race bred street cars really still are! The ultimate collectible GT Falcon, in our Kingsgrove, Sydney showroom now. (Ref. 5300)
