1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428-4V Super Cobra Jet - Drag Pack
Now for sale this immaculate concours restored, one of only 857 built '70 Mustang Mach 1 428 Super CobraJet/Drag Packs. One of the most powerful Mustangs built by Ford. In fact, quicker than the famous Boss 429. And one of the most desired collectable Mustangs today. For sale from our Sydney Showroom.
The 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 R code Super Cobra Jet Sportsroof featured here is finished in stunning metallic Dark Ivy Green with a black interior. This particular example was assembled at the Dearborn, Michigan, plant in March, 1970 and was sold new through Joe Wentz Ford in Chicago, Illinois. Factory options include the shaker hood, 428 Super Cobra Jet engine/Drag Pack, a four speed close ratio manual transmission, Traction-Lok 3.91 rear with 31 spline axles and a nodular case, quick ratio power steering, tachometer, tinted glass, AM radio, Black Hood Stripe, 15" Magnum 500 wheels and more!
The renowned 428 Super Cobra Jet big block needs very little introduction to performance enthusiasts. Conservatively rated at 360 hp at 5,400 rpm, it's the same prime mover that pushes NHRA super stock Mustangs through the quarter in the mid-11s with speeds in the 120-mph range. The 10.6 to 1 compression ratio combined with free-breathing cylinder heads, and an intake manifold topped by a 735 CFM Holley 4-bbl. carburetor, allow the Super Cobra Jet to turn out a truck load of torque at 597 Nm @ 3,400 rpm.
Concours restored in the late 2000’s in the USA, this Mach 1 was imported by the current owner and presents in stunning restored condition with power coming from its numbers matching 428ci R-code V8 engine. The odometer currently displays 39,688 miles; a number which is believed to reflect the vehicle’s actual mileage. As documented by the accompanying Elite Marti Report, this Super Cobra Jet/Drag Pack Mach 1 Sportsroof is one of only 857 built and is most definitely the cream of the Mustang crop.
Optioned with the Black Hood Stripe and functional "shaker" hood scoop, the SCJ is also fitted with the tail-mounted wing and chin spoilers as well as the rear window louvered blackout shade.
The Mach 1 features a deluxe interior with simulated wood trim, high-backed seats, extra sound deadening, remote sports mirrors, and other features. The interior is in amazing condition with all correct dash, gauges, steering wheel and Hurst shifter. The car also comes with the original working AM radio and clock.
The Mach 1 is riding on near new white lettered Goodyear Polyglas tyres mounted to the 15" Magnum 500 wheels.
Documentation includes the Elite Marti Report, Certificate of title and import paperwork.
You would not find a cleaner more original big block Mach 1, a superb example that has been obviously well loved and perfectly preserved.
