Unrestored super rare Maranello Red 308 V8 1982 VH SL/X Wagon with dealer fitted SL/E velour trim including hood lining, SL/E steering wheel and badging, full length bumpers, SL/E chrome and 15" wheels. Running the matching 308 V8 and Trimatic three speed auto this classic V8 Aussie wagon is now for sale. Located in Croydon, VIC.

Built between 1981 and 1984 the now classic VH Commodores offered a mild facelift over the VB/VC design, identified by its horizontally slatted grille and Holden emblem located in the centre of grille and boot lid. The word "Commodore" was also moulded into the rubber bumper insert on each side and forward of the front wheel. The VH came with a 63 litre fuel tank and SL and SL/X models were optioned with a speedometer with integrated odometer, petrol gauge, fuel economy gauge, Central vertical warning light cluster, Clock, Indicators, AM Radio, Voltmeter, Oil pressure gauge and Push button radio stereo cassette player.

Interestingly, according to information passed from the second owner to the current owner, the original owner wanted a 5 Litre V8 Commodore Wagon with all the luxuries of an SL/E at a time when Holden did not offer an SL/E based version. So the story goes that the original selling Dealership fitted all the SL/E items at the purchasers request including the Two Tone Cabernet Velour and Vinyl seat trim, door cars and hood lining, SL/E steering wheel and badging, full length bumpers, SL/E chrome and 15" wheels.

This Maranello Red Commodore Station Wagon is running the matching numbers L31 5.0L 308 V8 engine with the original Rochester Quadrajet 4 barrel downdraft type carburettor still feeding Super to the cylinders. The 308 was reconditioned 20,000 klms ago and comes with receipts for the rebuild. Other works have included fitting of a new radiator, reconditioned and rebuilt Rochester carburettor and full service replacing all oils and fluids.

The Wagon runs a stock single system exhaust with crossover pipe and twin mufflers. The transmission is a 3 speed Tri-matic gearbox with independent MacPherson Strut suspension, Salisbury rear axle, and a rear stabiliser bar as was fitted to all wagons.

The VH is fitted with Air conditioning, power steering and power windows all standard on the SL/E model.

This is a honest, original VH Commodore Wagon with the factory 5 Litre V8 option box ticked and nicely enhanced by the original owner who wanted a SL/E based wagon when Holden did not offer such an animal.

Currently unregistered. Located in Croydon, VIC for your inspection. (Ref. 6107)
