1975 Datsun 260Z 2+2
Based on the long nose and swooping profile of the E type Jaguar, the Datsun 240 and 260Zs featured a grunty six-cylinder engine with twin side-draft carburettors, a five-speed gearbox, independent rear suspension and the practicality of a top-hinged rear hatch, all packaged in world classic long bonnet sports coupe.
The Z was announced late in 1969 and Australia saw its first cars a year later. Pricing was just shy of $5,000 – yes, more expensive than an XW GT-HO Falcon – and way dearer than the more comparable Ford Capri V6.
The 2.6-litre 260Z was launched in mid-1974 as a two-seater and also as a more practical new 2+2 as seen here for sale. Painted in Ocean Glow Blue, the car is basically an unrestored example of the 260Z. Originally sold through Capitol Motors Ltd, Parramatta Rd, Auburn to it's first owner in Orange, NSW the car was then sold to its second Sydney based owner in 1987 who owned the car until 2006, when purchased by the current owner.
The car comes with its original log books, 84,100 miles on the clock, the owners manual, radio operating manual, service history and dealer folder. The current owner has enjoyed the faultless reliability of these mighty Datsuns, and has enjoyed many trips in the car including a tour of Tasmania as part of the Targa Tassie in 2011. The car is all matching numbers and still retains its twin SUs and 5 speed manual gearbox. The car has been mildly modified with a strut brace added in the engine bay and another brace added behind the front seats plus racing harness belts and a sports steering wheel.
The 260Z comes with three sets of wheels including a set of five original Nissan alloy wheels, 4 x 17" Performance Race mags and a set of black steel wheels. It also comes with a set of 4 Datsun Z dress rims for the standard Datsun steel wheels.
If you have been looking for a good Z then this is a terrific solid rust and damage free vehicle that will certainly provide many more years of trouble free driving. The history and documentation make it a very rare and collectible opportunity.
Can't get the see the Z because of travel restrictions? Not to worry. We can arrange a live video inspection of the car for you. This will allow you to go right through the car while you are on the phone including a test drive so you can have a VIRTUAL INSPECTION in real time. You can also arrange for an independent mechanical/body report and of course we will arrange secure covered transport to your door.
The car is located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. (Ref. 5469)
