1973 HQ GTS 350 Monaro - 4 Speed Manual
Now for sale is this super rare 1973 HQ GTS Monaro factory 350 V8 4 speed manual in stunning Tangerine with Lone-O-Ranger stripes, on display in our Mortdale, Sydney Showroom. Offers invited over $225,000.
The HQ was the swan song for the mighty Chevrolet 350 V8 ending GMH's reliance on the USA for its V8 power plants and now relying solely on the Aussie produced Holden V8s. Given GMH's determination to be self sufficient and produce all engines locally there would be no more imported Chevrolet V8 engines powering Holdens for the next 30 odd years.
Nearly 50 years later these circumstances have made the very few surviving HQ 350 Monaros a rare and highly desirable collector vehicle.
With nearly half a million HQs built over the life span of the model including just over 13,000 GTS Monaros it is understood that only 214 HQ GTS Monaro 350 V8 powered sedans were ever built, with only 54 of these fitted with the legendary Muncie 4 speed manual gearbox, made even more special by the inclusion of the factory Hurst shifter.
So that our enthusiast friends is rare, in fact, it is one of the rarest Holdens ever built, and we are all fortunate for the survival of this amazing example.
In stunning Tangerine Orange with Lone-O-Ranger stripes and factory black trim, this HQ GTS has been lovingly restored to factory specifications and now presents in almost better condition than new. The car has been bare metal prepared and repainted approximately 5 years ago and is in exceptional show winning condition. The pics do not lie!
The chrome and glass are in amazing condition and the interior is mostly original with all working gauges set into that trade mark gunmetal finished dash fascia.
Mechanically, many thousands of dollars have been spent to bring this car up to a very high level with the current enthusiast owner spending countless hours and many dollars tracking down the best original parts for the restoration.
We all remember the ads featuring a very young Peter Brock throwing around an HQ on the dirt. According to PB, the HQ GTS made “you enjoy motoring all over again”. And with so few 350 GTS Monaros ever built and very few surviving, it is no wonder that the HQ GTS Monaro 350 has been long recognised as one of the most collectible and desirable Holdens ever produced.
Picture perfect! Don't miss this unique opportunity to own one of Holden's true Hero cars. This GTS 350 comes with a GMH letter of verification plus a summary list of all works completed by the current owner and a receipt/ photo file. An outstanding classic muscle Holden available for immediate inspection.
