For sale a stunning SURVIVOR grade example of Ford's famous 1970 XW Falcon GT-HO Phase 1 1/2 in Brambles Red with Black trim and optioned with the factory GOLDE SUNROOF. Located in our Sydney Showroom for your inspection.

In order to race in the Production Racing Series of the day including the Bathurst 500, CAMS rules required manufacturers to build and sell to the general public a minimum of 200 cars with the exact specifications as their race cars. According to GT-HO Historian, Ross Vasse's excellent 1970 Falcon GT-HO Phase 1 1/2 Register, a clerical error by Ford saw them manufacture 149 XW GT-HOs with the Option 11 Tinted Laminated Windscreen option, 51 cars short of the CAMS regulations. Some fast negotiating by Al Turner's race crew saw CAMS allow FORD to race the XW GTHO but required the correct number to be built in subsequent months.

Thus FORD built what has become known as the Phase 1 1/2 to satisfy CAMS regulations and in doing so created the rarest of all HO GTs. These GT-HOs were basically a Cleveland powered Phase 1 using a standard hydraulic Cleveland 4V engine (but with a 780 cfm Holley carburetor), a cast iron inlet manifold, manual choke, wide ratio gearbox, 28 spline diff, standard rear drums and a rear sway bar.

FOR SALE is a pedigree SURVIVOR GT-HO Phase 1.5 in Brambles Red with Black trim. According to the XW GT-HO Phase 1 1/2 Register, this particular GT-HO is Build Number 29 of the 110 Phase 1 1/2 GT-HOs built by Ford. It is one of 12 Phase 1 1/2s painted in Brambles Red and one of only 5 optioned with the factory GOLDE SUNROOF. All matching numbers, this GT-HO comes with a full known history, a receipt file, old registration paperwork and original keys. On the back windscreen is the original owner Jack Grover's sticker for his Ernest Giles Autoport, Woomera, SA mechanical business. Mr. Grover owned this stunning GT-HO for 42 years.

In simply stunning maintained condition, the GTHO is still wearing its original Brambles Red paint with a new clear coat applied in approximately 2012. The original Brambles paint is still featured in the door jambs and boot. Mechanically the engine has been rebuilt to factory specs.

The GT-HO features the original seat trims, door cards, carpets, crash pad, hood lining, 36 gallon (164 litre) fuel tank, the original rubber boot mat, an Olympic G800 radial spare and factory tools.

Look under the car and the undersides are in perfect condition with the factory Brambles paint and factory stampings clearly evident. This GT-HO has been impeccably maintained and any original parts removed have been kept with the car including the original ball joints, shock absorbers, steering wheel and sun visors.

This is a rare opportunity to purchase a genuine Phase 1 1/2 Falcon GT-HO with all matching numbers, extremely sought after factory options and with a remarkable documented history. Certainly a highly collectable piece of Ford motoring history and a car that you can be proud to own, drive and showcase in any collection.
