For sale is this rare unmolested example of Australia's Own Car and an excellent example of the original model utility built by GMH from January 1951 until September 1953. In Burnley Cream with Walnut trim this FX Ute runs a period correct 132.5 cu in (2,171 cc) 6 cylinder engine and 3-speed manual transmission. Offered for sale from our Sydney Showroom.

The Holden 48-215 was the first model from General Motors in Australia to bear the Holden name. The 48-215 subsequently gained the unofficial nickname of Holden FX. And the name has stuck. Available as a Standard Sedan, Utility and Business Sedan, the FX proved an instant hit with the Aussie car buyer and firmly established the love affair people still feel for the brand. The Utility version of the FX was introduced in 1951 and proved very popular with farmers and tradesmen. By the time production finished in September 1953, more than 120,000 48-215 Holdens had been produced. Today, the FX series holds a special place in the motoring history of this country and its popularity with collectors into the future is assured.

This stunning unmolested factory Burnley Cream example was manufactured at GM's Fisherman's Bend Plant in September, 1953 and is one of the last FX Utes built by Holden. It appears to have been a country vehicle all its life. Restored 25 years ago and still in excellent condition throughout, the Ute features excellent chrome and glass and a super clean timber lined tray with tonneau cover.

The interior has been retrimmed in red and retains the original dash, steering wheel and working Air Chief radio. New GM vinyl flooring, door cards, seat covers, hood lining and sun visors have been fitted.

The FX runs the period correct Canadian seasoned engine block out of a FJ Holden. Measuring 132.5 cui or 2,171 cc, the cast-iron straight six engine produces 60 hp (45 kW) and gears are swapped with a three-speed manual transmission. In the day, Holden quoted 0–60 mph in 18.7 seconds. Mechanically the car runs and drives beautifully. The current owner delivered the car to the Sydney Showroom from country NSW and the Ute did not miss a beat. On current full NSW registration that can be renewed if required. The Ute still runs the original style 6 volt battery system with Bosch generator. The gearbox and clutch have been over hauled and the original diff has also been reconditioned. Suspension bushes have also been replaced, and the wheel cylinders and master cylinder have been re sleeved.

The Ute shows nil rust or accident damage. The split front windscreen has been replaced with modern Triplex safety glass.

The Ute is fitted with NASCO door handle scuff plates and also aftermarket turn indicator lights.

The FX rides on original Canadian steel 15" wheels with NOS mint wheel caps on good tyres. There are also a couple of spare rims with older cross ply tyres supplied.

This is the perfect Ute to cruise or sign it up with your company logo and use it as a retro delivery, service or promotional vehicle. An Aussie car that you'll be bloody proud to own and drive.
