Factory Fairmont, with ORIGINAL 6 cyl motor AND BURGUNDY TRIM !!!
Resprayed to original color (Ultra white) in 2 pack paint
In very good condtion and honest original condition, its even got the
original carpet !!!
Comes with original service manaul
Has factory fitted heavy duty auto (not a crusty BW 35)
White rooflining original with NO RIPS OR TEARS !!
THE NOT SO GOOD (what this car needs )
This resotration is 99% complete:
to finish it off completely, but will sell the car as it is. These items are : drivers side windlacing joiner in burgundy, 2 x rear door courtesy light switches, also needs new (or repro) wiring loom clips in the engine bay as the original ones were brittle when removed. The linking wire on the horns is missing, as is the battery hold down clamp. Ariel was broken prior to resto so thats missing also. Interior wise its as original as you can get, however to bring it up to scratch both of the bottoms of the front seats and a small section of the rear seat (about size of 20cent coin) have rips in the basket weave (have been quoted around $500 to fix this from a trimmer)
To pass a roadworthy inspection, in my honest opinioin this is what would be needed that I am aware of (keep in mind that when the little old lady owned it, it was NSW rego so it had to have a safety certiciate every year)
Single crack in origianal dash crash pad. Has original radio and it stillworks !!
BRAKES - Do work ,but pedal is very soft, may just need bleeding but im
not sure.
WINDSCREEN - Would need replacing, as i think its 30 years old (has as
fruit fly pass from 1976 stuck on it !! ) Maybe a set of wiper blades?
TRANSMISISON - seems to shift good driving, but the selector needs
adjusting as the car starts in reverse and the numbers dont line up on
the coloum shift.
ENGINE: As the engine has been sitting , it could probably do with a new set of plugs, hoses filters etc. i had intentions of putting in a v8 so I have only tidied up the original engine. Still it seems to start and run ok for a 35 year old motor !! Has not leaked a drop of oil / trans fluid in my shed for last 7 years !!
SUSPENSION: - May need shockers all around, but not sure. All of the
rubbers underneath look good and appear to have done little work
TYRES - Are good all round (fitted with factory fairmont hubcaps )
ELECTRICS - Also good and everythgin working to my knowledge, may need a new blinker lens or two on the rear. rest of lenses are good
BODY - All the windows wind up and down, and door locks and latches all
work and were lubed when car was re-assembled. there is some minor
overspray on some trim and glass but would be easily removed.
EXHAUST - Appears to have been replaced before i purchased it (still
completely silver) as this car has only sat and never ran I guess it
would still be like new?
