1972 XA GT Falcon 4 Speed

$SOLD

The first all Australian designed Falcon and the first Falcon GT to include a 4 door sedan and hardtop version, the XA was a huge milestone event in the history of Ford in Australia.

For the first time, Australia was designing cars from scratch right here. The designers moved away from the brick like design of the XR through XY range to a more aerodynamic "Coke bottle" design, a new wrap around cockpit style dash and high backed bucket seats, NASA air scoops on the bonnet and vertical air vents between the front edge of the fender and the front wheel arch. Gone were the Super roo stripes and the shaker. Here was a more mature GT.

But oh did the new GT get some help from the generous colour palette available to Ford customers.

Like this rare, 1 of only 44 XA GT Falcons painted in the eye searing Wild Plum paint scheme.

After-all, this is the 1970s to a tee.

And this early 1972 build XA GT is an excellent example that has survived incredibly well over the years.

Delivered new from D&J Ford, Lithgow in the Blue Mountains of Sydney this GT displays an older restoration with excellent attention to detail. The GT is all numbers matching including the original D block 4V 351 Cleveland V8, 4 speed top loader and 9" diff. Even the original aluminium radiator dog tag that went down the production line is still with the car.

The GT is fitted with day two underdash A/C (non operational), factory power steering, extractors and a modern CD player in place of the original 8 Track optional item. The car is sitting on the factory optioned original Option 52 sports road wheels and excellent red walled tyres.

This is a great driver that turns heads, sounds amazing and drives like a psychedelic dream. Ready to club register and enjoy.
