History:
This car was one of the last Pacers produced for Australian retail. Out of 1647 VH Pacers built, New Zealand got at least 417, primarily out of the 1972 build cars. The majority of VH Pacers were, over the years, cannibalised for their drivetrains and dashes, which were shared with the R/T Charger. They were essentially a 4 door R/T, however the buying public were more inclined to go for the R/T, given its two-door configuration.
The VH Pacer held the record of the fastest 4 door Australian production six cylinder until the release of the EA S-Pack in 1988. Good for 15.9 sec quarters factory stock, it took multi-point fuel injection,a 5 speed gearbox, and 17 years to surpass them.
This vehicle has been enhanced over factory specs by the following:
The engine, matching numbers, has been enhanced by serious porting, a four barrell carb, an E49 spec cam, extractors and dual valve springs. This is estimated to help propel the car to a mid to high 14 sec quarter, however this has not been tested.
The dyno sheets show 189.5 HP at the rear wheels. The visual integrity has been maintained, by the use of a factory modded manifold and air cleaner to cover the bigger carb.
The gearbox has been changed to a close ratio E49 box. Once again the visual integrity has been retained through the use of a Leyland shifter unit, which has negated the need for any cutting of the floor plan, thereby keeping the shifter in exactly the same position that the original three speed occupied.
The diff is now a LSD 3.23 factory unit as per the R/T Chargers. The vehicle originally came with a single spinner 3.23.
NO money to be spent. Suitable for someone who needs a turn key car.
