The HSV Maloo R8 is about as far removed from the idea of a work ute as possible. There's no room for work gear in the tray. And who would dare trod dirty work boots through its sumptuous interior. So there's no way you'd use it for work. And you can't use it for driving the family around. And yet it has found a sweet spot here in Australia where the Maloo is revered as a very personal quintessentially Australian beast of a car. On display in our Sydney Showroom.

For sale is Build No. 0816. The flagship of HSV’s ute range, the Gen-F HSV Maloo R8 SV Enhanced runs the optional 340kW naturally aspirated 6.2-litre ‘LS3’ V8 pumping out 570Nm at 4650rpm. Start her up and the initial bark of the big V8 settles into a throbbing 600rpm idle. Its impossible to miss the wonderful growl of the R8’s bi-modal quad-pipe exhaust. A light squeeze of the throttle and the Maloo R8 simply surges forward. This is quite intoxicating. And all of a sudden you understand why the Maloo has hit that sweet spot with Aussie Muscle Car enthusiasts as a very personal mode of transport.

A ONE OWNER Maloo R8, Build No. 0816 is presented in unmarked Phantom with Black leather trim. Featuring the excellent six-speed automatic gearbox, Build 0816 has covered a genuine 8,820 Klms from new and comes with the HSV Compendium, owners log books and manuals, HSV gift pack, HSV car care kit and two sets of keys. Originally sold through Smiths of Geelong, the owner optioned the R8 with a six-speed automatic transmission ($2000) and the exclusive ‘R8 SV Enhanced’ package ($4995).The SV pack adds 20" Satin Graphite SV Performance forged alloy wheels, black plastic fender vents and black side mirror caps. It also boosts power and torque of the R8’s already uprated 325kW/550Nm naturally aspirated 6.2-litre ‘LS3’ V8 by 15kW and 20Nm thanks to a new bi-modal air intake.

Of course all the creature comforts are there including front and rear parking sensors, automatic park assist, automatic headlights, LED daytime running lights, blind spot assist and an electric park brake. Cruise control, dual-zone climate control and a six-speaker audio system with USB/AUX inputs and iPod integration are also there. You also get Holden’s MyLink infotainment system with satellite navigation, Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming and the display for the standard reversing camera. Additionally the R8 gains a heads-up display, lane departure warning, forward collision alert and rain-sensing wipers, as well as a remote-locking hard tonneau cover.

Build No. 0816 is presented in totally unmolested original condition even down to the day one Continental tyres. Even the spare wheel is brand new having never been used and there has also never been anything placed in the tray so she is as good as new throughout.

Once you've driven a Maloo, you'll understand why these cars have such a cult following. And no doubt you'll be repeating the HSV tag line as you sleep ... "I Just Want One"!
