2009 HDT VE Commodore Group A SS Retro - Build No 050
On October 9, 2009 Bev Brock unveiled the new-generation HDT 'Blue Meanie' -- inspired by Peter Brock's famous 1985 HDT VK Group A Commodore at the Bathurst 1,000 at Mount Panorama, Bathurst. And just like that a new legend was born. For sale is a super low mileage example of the VE-VK Retro SS Group A Commodore for sale from our Sydney Showroom.
The new Blue Meanie, the third in a line-up of modern HDT heritage vehicles modified by Peter Champion's HDT organisation is based on the 6 Litre V8 VE Commodore SS or SSV and modified with the inspiration of the original Brock road cars. The 'Blue Meanie' is painted in the exact same Formula Blue as the 1985 original and therefore wears the same nickname. HDT has even reproduced a modern version of the single-slot grille, race-car style rear wing and turbine-style wheels with centre Aero wheel caps. And as with the original Brock VK Group A's, customers could choose between alloy or white finished Aero wheels.
Developed as an alternative to HSV's GTS and Clubsport offerings, the HDT VE-VK Retro Commodore offers car enthusiasts an unique package inspired by Brock and built by the HDT organisation as a modern interpretation of a Brock SS Group A Commodore. At the heart of the HDT Group A is the 6.0-litre V8 modified by HDT with a special cam, high-performance exhaust and an engine ECU tune that, combined, produces a claimed 350kW of power. In addition, a colour coded two piece engine cover and Billet engine bay caps are fitted.
Like the original VK Group A, Peter Champion's HDT organisation specifies the latest Bilstein Coil over suspension providing for unrivalled ride and handling.
And on the inside, HDT has re-trimmed the interior with HDT logos embroidered into the leather seats with interior carbon fibre highlights and HDT floor mats. In addition, each car features an unique build plaque on the glove box, in this case 50 of 250.
Build No: 50 was ordered on the day of the launch of the VE VK Retro and was originally sold through Bathurst Motors and sent straight to HDT for modification. This differentiates this special vehicle from the more common HDT Improved examples. According to the HDT records, this is one of only 29 VE-VK SS Group A Commodores built. And with only 39,373 Kilometres on the clock, this stunning 6 speed manual Retro VE-VK Brock Commodore comes with all HDT documentation, HDT Authenticity Certificate, log books and owners manuals, two sets of keys and full service history. Build No. 50 originally wore the NSW plates VEVKGA as seen in the photos kindly supplied to us by the original owner.

Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.
When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.
The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.
If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.
If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.
AMCS receives a fee of 7.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
