1985 HDT VK SS Group A Brock Commodore - Build No. 425

$SOLD

Now for sale HDT Brock VK SS Group A - Build No. 425.

The Brock Blue Meanie. There is nothing more iconic or collectable in Brock Commodores than a low mileage highly optioned Blue Meanie.

And here we have for sale Build No. 425. In totally unrestored condition throughout this survivor '85 VK SS Group A has covered just on 45,000 kilometres since brand new.

The original Tasmanian owner ticked all the boxes on this magic Brockie. He optioned the car with the highly sought after T-5G 5 speed HDT gearbox, Group 3 skirt kit, Air Conditioning, 90 litre fuel tank and the White 16x7" Aero's with caps.

In order to meet Group A racing rules 500 VK Group As were built to homologate a de-stroked version of the 308 cubic inch 5 litre Holden V8, giving 304ci or 4.9 litres thus allowing a significant weight saving in the race cars. The trick 4.9 litre V8s in the road cars were crammed full of good gear by HDT including roller rockers, a specific cam grind, a double row timing chain, L34 type rods, modified inlet manifold and various mods to the block to make it go the distance in endurance racing. Then there was HDT extractors, a cold-air intake and you were looking at a respectable 196kW at 5200rpm. And build No. 425 is day one original.

In addition, the Group As got a bunch of interior changes including body hugging Scheel front seats, a Momo steering wheel and gear-knob, a basic stereo and of course the instantly recognisable Formula Blue paint. Build No. 425 also got the optional factory integrated air conditioning.

Raw and purposeful, the Blue Meanie is an absolute beast. The idle is about as lumpy as an XU1 Torana and the whole car feels like its ready to have a go at anything that gets in its way. And that's just warming the thing up in your driveway. Let it off the leash and the Group A SS will wind up to about 3000rpm, and right at that point a fair chunk of hell breaks loose as the 304 gets up on its camshaft and exhaust. And oh what a beautiful sound that makes! You get the drift!

Brock Group A Build No. 425 comes with the original Owners log books and all HDT verification paperwork. Originally sold by Motors P/L, Hobart, Tasmania the car is in perfect mechanical condition with no modifications and has always been professionally maintained. The interior is all original with original trim, carpets, steering wheel, hood lining etc and is in excellent condition with little to no wear to this low mileage example. The factory air conditioning works perfectly with a new compressor fitted recently (the original is in a box in the boot). The radio is also original and in perfect working condition.

Build No. 425 still has the original mud flaps fitted plus a full set of 5 factory white painted HDT Aero directional rims with excellent Dunlop tyres. There is also a fitted custom car cover and some spare parts, plus the jack and tools and the allen key used to remove the rare Moon caps plus the original now removed Cobra alarm system.
