1983 Holden HDT VH Commodore SLE ADP - Peter Brock's Personal Car
Imagine owning one of Peter Brock's company HDT Commodores! A fully optioned 5 Litre V8 and M21 manual VH SL/E Commodore fitted with HDT's Australian Dealer Pack (ADP) option. For sale from our Sydney Showroom.
Peter Brock's original HDT VC Brock Commodores had been a huge success with all 500 VCs flying out the door to well healed enthusiast buyers. The Australian Dealer Pack (ADP) was introduced in the period between the end of the VC HDT and prior to the release of the VH SS Commodore. The HDT Dealer’s were screaming for cars to sell. To satisfy the massive dealer and customer demand for Brock Commodores HDT offered customers the Australian Dealer Pack.
Based on a VH Commodore SL, SL/X or SL/E, a customer could have HDT modify their Commodore to suit their personal requirements. These mods included upgrading engines and exhaust specs to increase power output, fitting of Bilstein suspension to improve handling, adding flares and spoilers from the VC model, fitting of the body hugging Stratos front seats and upgrading the wheel choice to 15" Irmscher or 16" Centra alloys. Buyers could also option their Commodore with a 90 Litre fuel tank.
One of these ADP Commodores was built as PB's personal transport as confirmed with a letter of Authenticity from David Maidment of HDT in Melbourne as well as an authenticity certificate from Len Pennisi of HDT in Sydney. In addition, the copy of the original log books shows HDT as the original owner of the car and the number plates BVE005 as assigned to the car from new. In addition, HDT in Bertie Street, Port Melbourne supplied a HDT Build Plate with the production number 1108 and stamped the plate with PB's initials.
In Mercury Silver with Blue velour trim, the Brock ADP Commodore is presented in unrestored condition except for an older repaint in the original Mercury Silver. The SL/E is still running the HDT modified 5 litre L31 V8 and is now fitted with a 5 speed manual gearbox. Brock enhanced the 308 V8 with a higher 9.2:1 compression ratio, 101.6mm bore and 77.8mm stroke translating to 184kw @ 4750rpm and 418Nm of Torque @ 3500rpm. Similar to the VH Group 3s specifications.
The interior is all original and in very good overall condition with good seat trims, door cards, carpet and hoodling with only the console covering lifting due to age. The SL/E is fitted with a Momo Alpina steering wheel with HDT centre horn pad. The signature foot rest is missing but there is the impression indented into the original carpet as well as the fixing screw. The SL/E has been fitted with the optional cruise control and a trip computer, Cobra car alarm as well as the Peter Brock Group 3 stereo.
Under the bonnet is presented in original condition with the HDT improved 5 Litre V8 still in place. A cold air intake has been fitted at some stage. The Commodore is riding on the original Irmscher rims with good rubber.
As can be seen from the historical photos, the then owner met Peter Brock at a Lakeside, QLD race meeting. According to the owner, Peter Brock stepped back and said, "This is my old car" and then before heading out motor racing on the day checked the old paperwork noting HDT Special Vehicles as the original owner. The dashboard has been signed by Peter Brock and Bev Brock.
Being one of Peter Brock's personal rides, this rare Brock Commodore deserves to be treated to some degree of restoration. Certainly a treasure for any Aussie car collector especially the Peter Brock enthusiast.

Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.
When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.
The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.
If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.
If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.
AMCS receives a fee of 7.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
