1978 Holden UC Torana SL - Panama Green
It was never going to be easy following in the foot steps of the LX Torana. Especially after Brockie took out the Bathurst 1000 by 6 laps and set a lap record on his final lap. But to add insult to injury, Holden decided with the UC to drop the V8 engine and delete the famous SL/R brand name. You could buy a 1892cc 4 cylinder Starfire Sunbird or opt for a 2835cc or 3298cc six cylinder SL Torana. And while the engine offerings may have been disappointing to some, the fact that the UC model featured Radial Tuned Suspension and a race tuned A9X floor pan certainly made for a more refined drive versus the older LH and LX Toranas.
Even though 55,000 UC Toranas were built, finding a good UC Torana in UNRESTORED condition is now near impossible. In Panama Green with Chamois trim this SURVIVOR UC is a museum quality treasure. For sale from Melbourne, VIC.
Originally built at the Holden plant in Dandenong, Victoria this UC Torana has obviously led a charmed life. This little ripper Torana still features the factory Panama Green acrylic paint with minor touch ups around the body and with totally original paint in the engine bay, boot and door jambs. All glass and chrome is day one and is in impressive condition with dealer fitted over riders and mud flaps still in place. The Torana has also been rust proofed from new.
On the inside, the Chamois trim is all day one and in perfect condition including the original seat coverings, door cards and hood lining. The carpets have been replaced and there is a small crack in the crashpad but otherwise the interior is in perfect condition. All gauges work and the UC features a working clock and heated rear window.
Mechanically, the UC features the matching numbers 3.3 Litre 6 cylinder engine, Trimatic auto and factory 3.08:1 diff. This is a low mileage well maintained example. The engine has never been removed from the car and this little Torana is a super reliable drive anywhere car. The current owner has recently replaced the radiator and the water pump. All suspension is original with original GMH ball joints.
The quality continues into the boot with the original boot matt, spare wheel and factory tools still in their place.
The UC is riding on the factory steel 13" rims with the factory hub caps and brand new tyres.
This is a great opportunity to complete your Torana collection with an excellent original example of the last of the Torana models.

Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.
When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.
The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.
If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.
If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.
AMCS receives a fee of 7.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
