Superb example of an unrestored totally original 1976 Pontiac Trans Am 455 cubic inch V8 with only 17,000 miles on the clock and the 4 speed Muncie manual gearbox. Presented in original Sterling Silver paint and for sale from our Sydney Showroom. What a SURVIVOR. Unbelievable condition 455 Big Block Trans Am with a genuine documented 17,494 miles on the odometer from new!!! Running the all numbers matching 455 Pontiac V8, close ratio 4 speed Super T10 with Hurst Shifter and original Sterling Silver paint. For 1976 the Trans Am equipped with the 455 was nominated by Cars Magazine as the “Top US Performance Car of the Year” and Road and Track magazine were impressed by the 455 V8 equipped Trans Am’s quick acceleration and handling, claiming the Trans Am’s handling was in the same league as the Ferrari Dino 308 GT. 1976 was the last year of the round headlights and the legendary 455 cube 4BBL Pontiac motor. And this stunning ultra low mileage example is a rare find with the options selected all backed up with original factory documentation. Paper work also includes a letter from the original owner noting that at the time of the sale of the car to the second owner in 1998 the car showed a genuine mileage of 8,000 miles. Originally sold into Canada, the Trans Am was then purchased by a collector who stored the car in an indoor facility in Ohio. The car was then sold to another collector in Texas before being imported to Australia. After 46 years this very special survivor Trans Am must be one of the lowest mileage Trans Ams in the world. In addition to the low mileage, this particular Trans Am stands out from the crowd due to the interesting and rare options selected during the build. The car was factory optioned with the 455 4BBL engine, mandatory close ratio 4 speed Super T10 gearbox with Hurst Shifter, and performance oriented 3.23 rear axle ratio. Also Honeycomb wheels, console delete, hood bird delete, radio delete plus manual windows and door locks from new. The factory rear knock out plastic plug still remains on the car. Power Steering of course was standard on all T/As and the interior is ALL original and still looks brand new to this day. All the factory decals are still intact throughout the car, including the doorjamb VIN decal. The optional 15 inch Honey-comb wheels are wrapped with slightly larger and harder to obtain BF Goodrich T/A radial tyres that are as new. The car is running the rare original Quadrajet carburettor, ignition and radiator. Changes made by the previous owner include the removal of the emissions equipment, installation of a new dual exhaust system from Waldrons with a correct Super Duty style Transverse muffler above the rear axle. The car is fitted with aftermarket ceramic coated cast iron "Ram Air" headers from Ram Air Restorations. These performance headers were only fitted to high performance Pontiac engines such as the "Ram Air" and Super Duty engines of the time. The original headers will be supplied with the car. Rivets from the Shaker Hood flap were removed to allow the rear facing flap to open up under acceleration, as per previous T/A models. Recent service works include a new brake master cylinder, new high pressure power steering hose, new heater core for the heater and new Koni suspension shocks to firm the ride a little. This Trans Am runs, stops, handles, shifts gears and smells like a true 17,000 mile car. Everything works, even the alarm. With so much torque and quick steering, this 455 4 Speed Trans Am would have to be one of the most versatile and balanced US muscle cars ever produced. An amazing find and a real treasure for the US muscle car enthusiast. For your inspection from our Sydney Showroom.
