1976 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400ci V8 -Alpine Green
For sale is a 1976 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 running Pontiac's renowned 6.6 Litre V8 and T-350 automatic transmission. A genuine W66 Formula option car, this is a rare find in Australia professionally converted to RHD and bare metal restored to show winning standards. For sale from our Sydney Showroom.
Bare metal restored over three years from 2015 to 2018 and repainted in DuPont 2 pack Alpine Green, this rare Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 has been in Australia since the late 1980s. Following the restoration undertaken by the previous owner, the Pontiac has won 1st Place in the 2018 Camaro Firebird Nationals in the Authentic 1971 to 1981 class, 3rd place in the same event in 2022, 1st place in Authentic Class at the NSW All American Day in 2018 and also 1st place Authentic at the NSW All GM Day in 2018.
During the restoration, the matching numbers 6.6 Litre V8 was rebuilt and fitted with a Holley Sniper EFI system, Edelbrock Dual Plane Manifold, Protonic HEI dizzy, Roller Rockers and mild cam. The radiator was recored, engine mounts. replaced, extractors fitted and a reconditioned starter motor and alternator fitted. There are photos and receipts for the restoration work.
The T-350 gearbox was serviced and a transmission oil cooler fitted. The diff is the original 10 bolt 8.5" LSD 2:41 ratio and this was also serviced. The braking system was reconditioned with new booster, master cylinder, proportioning valve, flex hoses, brake rotor and pads, rear wheel cylinders, drums, brake shoes, brake springs and hardware, and calipers overhauled.
All suspension was also overhauled with new front and rear KYB gas shocks, new top and bottom control arm bushes, top and bottom bump stops, top and bottom ball joints, chassis bushes and radiator support bushes. The front springs and rear leaf springs were also reset.
On the inside, the steering wheel was retrimmed in leather, with new horn pad and badge fitted. The interior was retrimmed with new carpet, kick panels, trim pockets, seat foam and covers, hood lining and sun visors plus a new tachometer and clock. The Pontiac is fitted with factory Air Conditioning (non working), power steering, electric boot release and aftermarket radio/CD player.
The original 15" rims have been bead blasted and powder coated with new white wall tyres fitted.
Purchased by the current owner in November, 2022, this genuine Formula 400 Pontiac was converted to RHD by Graeme Proctor and Associates from Harbord, NSW in the late 1980s.

Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.
When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.
The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.
If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.
If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.
AMCS receives a fee of 7.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
