Certainly this car is King of the XB GTs. A rare one of only 139 XB GT Falcons endowed by the Ford Factory in late 1973 with the 4V big port headed 351 Cleveland and 4 speed Top Loader manual gearbox. Now for sale from our Sydney Showroom.

According to the ACCHS report this is a One of One build with theses exact specifications. And to top it off, this XB GT Falcon is believed to be Ford Racing Supremo Mr. Howard Marsden's own Ford 3997 Executive car.

In 1971, Howard Marsden replaced Al Turner to become manager of the Falcon touring car program, introducing the Falcon GTHO Phase III and Phase IV. It was in this role that Marsden became involved with Allan Moffat, and the pair went on to form one of the renowned partnerships of Australian touring car racing. They won at Bathurst in 1971 and 1973 and went on to develop the racing version of the two-door Falcon.

This Ford Executive 3997 delivered XB GT Hardtop ticks all the boxes. Literally. A rare 4V and Top Loader example in Polar White, this GT is optioned with B2 Black cloth trim, integrated Air conditioning, Power Windows, Power Steering, GOLDE Sunroof, 8 Track stereo, Tu-tone Black Hood, Protection Pack and Heated Backlite. The GT is believed to have been part of Marsden's salary package. First registered in Victoria on 14-12-1973, with the registration LTB-100, the GT would remain in his ownership for 18 months before being sold through Ford's internal bidding process to McLeod Ford. The Victorian registration was then changed to IDT-432 on 14-5-1975 and the GT was transformed into a McLeod Ford Horn Car with the unique stripe package, rear spoiler and Aunger mag wheels (see original photos from 1975 in the photo gallery).

McLeod Ford then sold the car to a customer in Sydney who moved to Drayton near Toowoomba, QLD shortly after purchasing the GT. The registration was then changed to OOT-886. In 1976, the GT was sold to Mr. Peter Leeson who confirms that at the time of his purchase, the car was fitted with the Horn Stripes, spoiler, Aunger Wheels, a 780 cfm carby and the long range fuel tank. Several Queensland owners followed until 2004 when the car was bare metal restored and all mechanicals rebuilt. This work was carried out by Swift Engine Reconditioners and included a 20 thou over rebore to the original block, the crank was ground 10 thou, the heads were modified for unleaded and a mild cam added. The transmission was also overhauled, rotors, pads, master cylinder, ball joints and bushes replaced and a set of Pacemaker headers and a full stainless steel exhaust system fitted.

At the time of restoration the odometer read 44,000 miles. The odometer was reset during the reassembly and the car now indicates 1,784 miles which is all the GT has travelled since it was re-registered in 2007.

Currently riding on 15" Bathurst Globes with brand new red walled tyres plus another Globe spare in the boot plus factory tools.

A super rare one of one built highly optioned XB GT Falcon and the last of the 4V and Top Loader GTs, this is a rare opportunity to secure a truly unique and significant GT with full known history and unquestionable credentials. This very special XB GT Hardtop is located in our Sydney Showroom for your private inspection. (Ref: 6095)
