1973 XA GT Falcon Hardtop RPO83

$SOLD

Two hundred and fifty XA GT Falcons slipped out of the factory in August of 1973, with a new and previously unheard of Regular Production Option; RPO83. These were destined to take over the legacy of the mighty XY GTHO Phase 3s race reputation due to their improved aerodynamics and road holding. Due to the Supercar crisis of '72, these 250 cars all built in that one month a year later went generally unnoticed until Ford enthusiasts and historians uncovered their unique story. The fact is the improvements and equipment fitted to the RPO83 production cars did make it onto the race track and did help the Falcon Hardtops achieve more race victories than their GTHO predecessors. Consider that the today's vastly more valuable GTHO Phase 3 has only one Bathurst victory to its credit (1971) while the XA GT Hardtop and successor won in 1973, 1974 and 1977.

Now for sale is one VERY special GT Falcon. One of only 4 GT Hardtops fitted with the RPO83 performance option to be painted in Skyview Blue and a true one of one build with its other options. Only 120 XA GT Falcon Hardtops were built with the Regular Production Option #83 and this gleaming Skyview Blue example has been fully restored to the highest standard so you won't need a bucket load of cash to get this one out on the road.

Running the all matching numbers 351 Cleveland with its day one 4V 4 dot big port heads, this GT Hardtop runs the Phase 3 spec Holley 780 carburettor and the 2.25 inch Phase 4 developed Tri-Y design exhaust headers. Of course the GT runs the tough normal spec 4 speed top loader gearbox and a nodular iron 9" diff.

The interior is stunning in B2 Black vinyl with cloth insert trim and features a dealer fitted Superfringe radio and the RPO only manual choke. There is a genuine Aquajet in the boot plus jack and tools and a new boot mat. Originally sold through Byrne Ford, Chermside, QLD, the car comes with NOS owners log books for show purposes, full ownership history, Ford manuals, both the ACCHS and Ford Motor Company, Australia verification letters, the 2000 NSW registration label and numerous magazine articles featuring the XA Falcon and RPO83 specials.

Here is an RPO83 Coupe that needs nothing but a new owner. This is a trophy winning standout colour XA with excellent documentation, all matching numbers and comes with the most coveted XA GT option available - RPO83. Enough said.
