Super rare stunning unrestored Tangerine 1973 Bathurst LJ GTR XU-1 Torana. One of the famous 150 1973 BATHURST specials. Originally delivered in Western Australia and supplied with the original log books, owners manuals, receipt file and Bathurst running through it's veins. With only 84,797 Klms on the clock this is Holden royalty now for sale from Perth, WA.

In 1973, Holden went all out with the development of their Bathurst evolution of the GTR XU-1. GMH produced a special batch of 150 XU-1 Toranas known as Bathurst Specials that incorporated many changes designed to improve the performance and racing prowess of the little Torana. The engine numbers of these 150 very special Toranas are listed in a GMH service bulletin, so that Holden mechanics would know how to properly service these highly modified racing machines.

This Tangerine LJ GTR XU-1 is one of these very special and super rare Toranas!

The Torana is presented in stunning maintained condition and is largely unrestored importantly to preserve the originality of this rare car. The XU-1 is running the warranty NP XU-1 engine, with those wonderful Triple 175 CD-2 Stromberg side draught carburettors, date correct head, high performance ‘HX’ camshaft, exhaust valves and springs, the M21 4 speed close ratio '73 Bathurst manual transmission and its original 3.36 fine spline LSD rear end. The exhaust still features the original '73 Bathurst tubular extractors and even the original shock absorbers have been retained.

The interior is all day one and the car is showing 84,797 kilometres on the odometer. The XU-1 is a well known survivor with full ownership history. The original owner, a Mr. W Dunlop of Green Range via Albany, WA purchased the XU-1 from Manley Stanwell, P/L and the Torana was delivered on the 24th of September 1973. According to documents supplied with the XU-1, the Torana was then sold to the second owner, a Mr. Leigh Mitchell by Automotion P/L of Bayswater in Perth on the 21st of November, 1974. At the time, the XU-1 had a recorded mileage of 37,795 Kilometres. Last registered until November 1984, the current owner purchased the XU-1 from the family of this second owner in 2019.

The XU-1 comes with a great deal of paperwork including the original log books and manuals, original keys, a receipt file plus a 50th Anniversary Torana LJ diecast model.

Riding on the genuine XU-1 Sprintmaster mags with near new Maxxis 205/60R13 tyres all round.

A very special Torana and one that deserves pride of place in any Holden or Torana collection. This is not only one of the 150 special Bathurst homologation Toranas produced, it is also a fully documented example and a true Aussie survivor!
