Here is the perfect entry level opportunity to acquire a genuine 1972 LJ Torana S, mechanically fully rebuilt and ready for paint. Hard to find genuine 2 door Torana in factory Zodiac Blue. The perfect Torana to return to original condition, build a GTR or XU-1 Tribute or super cool street/strip show machine. For sale from Picnic Point, NSW.

Starting life as a Zodiac Blue LJ Torana S, the current owner has spent the last 6 years restoring the car including a full body restoration and a full mechanical rebuild with less than 1,000 Klms on the clock since the rebuild.

All the rust and dents were removed and properly repaired. The owner also fitted Rare Spares fluted guards. The body has been finished in 2 Pack enamel with a flat black guide coat over the top. All glass, chrome and stainless is original with Rare Spares headlight and taillight surrounds fitted.

The interior features modified Torana S door cards with brushed aluminium inserts and modified LJ door handles. The dash, steering wheel and all instruments are genuine GTR original items and all gauges work. The Torana also features a HQ floor shift steering column.

Mechanically, the Torana is running a HQ 202 6 cylinder with a 186 Stage 4 head, roller rockers, ported and polished, 500 cfm Holley carby on a polished John Cain 2BBL manifold, 40/80 grind cam, straight cut gears, flat top pistons 10.5: 1 compression, electronic dizzy and ignition and a custom sheet metal rocker cover. The Torana is fitted with ceramic coated Pacemaker extractors through to a 2.5" exhaust system. The Torana puts out an estimated 280hp at the flywheel and runs strong and never over heats. Gears are swapped through a twin stick Impala shifter mated to a race spec Aussie 4 speed gearbox good for 7,400 rpm and then through a 3" tailshaft with all new unis and then to a Banjo diff with 3.36 LSD with new gears and gaskets.

Brakes are LJ XU-1 twin piston calipers with slotted and dimpled rotors on the front and brand new drums on the rear with LJ stud pattern and a big nut master cylinder. All suspension has been rebuilt with new shocks and balls joints. The Torana is fitted with a 120L Bathurst LJ XU-1 long range fuel tank with new sender. The battery has been relocated into the boot.

The Torana is running 15" Centreline Convo Pros with Torana stud pattern with near new 165/50x15 tyres on the front and 205/50x15 on the rear.

This is the perfect Torana project - mechanically sorted. Just add paint.
