Aussie Muscle Car fans will remember the rain soaked '72 Hardie Ferodo 500 at Bathurst won by 27 year old Peter Brock driving a Holden Dealer Team prepared Torana LJ XU-1. This race was the first of Brock's record nine victories in which Brock finished a lap ahead of Queensland racer John French driving an XY Falcon GT-HO Phase III. And this was despite Brock being penalised one minute at his last pit stop for starting his car while the HDT crew were still re-fueling. A further lap behind was the Valiant Charger E49 of Doug Chivas.

The Hardie-Ferodo 500 created two legends on that day. Brock and the Torana XU-1.

For sale is a Yellow Dolly LJ GTR XU-1 Torana Tribute with several enhancements. This Torana was produced as a LJ GTR and is fitted with a QL engine block equipped with Yella Terra heads, roller rockers, and Dellorto triple carburetors. It features a M20 gearbox paired with a Banjo differential. Additionally, both the front and rear suspension has been upgraded with Heavy Duty Pedders springs and shocks along with sway bars.

The interior has been updated to XU1 specifications in 2007, complete with new door cards, carpets, console and headlining. With only 99,637 miles showing on the odometer, the vehicle has recently undergone a repaint in Yellow Dolly, after having worn a custom candy apple red paint since the 1990s. While it may not be an authentic Bathurst icon, at this price point—especially given the extra benefits of being a genuine GTR body, makes attractive buying.

Sitting on 13" Mullins Sprintmasters, wrapped in Falken tyres (205/60R13) The boot is thoughtfully fitted with both the battery and spare wheel for practicality.

Included with the car is a comprehensive collection of previous registration paperwork and receipts detailing the extensive work carried out over the years. You'll also find nostalgic photographs showcasing its previous custom setup from the late 80s to early 90s, providing a glimpse into its unique history. This classic is ready for a new owner who appreciates its charm and legacy!

Located in our Sydney Showroom for your inspection. (Ref: 6618)

If you wish, we will gladly arrange an actual/video inspection tour of the car and of course there is no issue to arrange enclosed transport door to door anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
