1971 Ford ZD Fairlane 302ci V8 - Teal Glow ... (SOLD)

In 1971 Ford had the Australian luxury car market sewn up with the full sized ZD Fairlane 500. Big on the outside and roomy on the inside. Powered by the trusty 302 Windsor V8 with column cruisomatic this was a big car, perfect for the big family as a cruiser in the days when a family holiday meant squeezing all the kids into the back seat, packing the huge boot with all the gear and heading to the beach, the bush or to the snow for the school holidays. No flying overseas like we seem to be doing nowadays.

FOR SALE is this totally original survivor Teal Glow with Saddle trim 1971 ZD Fairlane. This is as original as they come. Still covered in it's original factory paint and original trim. And all in pretty good condition for a car that's nearly 55 years old. The matching numbers 302 is still purring away under that big bonnet. The factory power steering makes driving a breeze and the Superfringe radio is there to entertain.

Even the original log books are with the car showing the big Fairlane was originally a demo vehicle at Adrian Brien Ford in Adelaide, SA before moving on to the first registered owner who religiously serviced the big Ford at Mortimer Ford in Mildura.

Structurally a very solid example, there is some rust showing in the left hand side front door and the paint is showing quite a lot of patina. It is however, a good solid body and the perfect canvas for a resto if that's what floats your boat. The Fairlane is supplied with a spare left hand front door.

Mechanically the car runs and drives but would benefit from a major service. This is the perfect project car for the Ford or Fairlane enthusiast. Fit new tyres and give her a bit of TLC and drive as is or give the Fairlane a birthday with new Teal Glow paint and she'll be looking as good as new.

A really good example that retains all the original parts with excellent hubcaps, chrome and glass.
