1972 Ford XY Falcon 500 Panel Van - Wild Violet
A two year build, "Wild Violet" has been built to be driven in comfort with unique retro styling. Running a fully rebuilt 351 Cleveland bored .020 thou with an Offenhauser four barrel inlet manifold, closed chamber heads with stainless valve, a 600cfm Holley carby, large camshaft and roller rockers, this Panel Van sounds and drives as good as she looks.
The Panel Van is also fitted with a stainless steel dual exhaust, high flow water pump, 3 core radiator and MSD electronic ignition. The XY is running a reconditioned Single Rail 4 speed manual gearbox and a reconditioned 9" limited slip diff. Everything is fresh with the XY covering only 2,761 miles since the rebuild was completed.
Paint and panel is excellent with a dead straight body with good panel gaps, excellent chrome and stainless and the Wild Violet paint is just beautiful with a custom air brushed Wild Violet mural on the tail gate and White GS stripes along the sides.
Being a 1972 model Falcon Panel Van, the XY is fitted with high backed bucket seats in black vinyl with purple suede inserts and the owner has fitted a GS/GT steering wheel and dash with 140MPH speedo, 8,000 tacho, oil, temp and fuel gauges plus an aftermarket Pioneer stereo and push button start. The XY is also fitted with working under dash Air-conditioning and XF sourced power steering and a custom console set up houses a driving light switch, interior light and wiper switch. Four way hazard warning lights are fitted and a Jaguar hand brake is fitted to the right of the driver's seat. All trims, molds and glass are also in excellent condition. The rear of the Panel Van is fitted with custom Wild Violet paneling, black hood lining and purple carpeting on the floor.
Braking is via XF Falcon rotors and callipers on the front and XY drums on the rear. Twin stainless fuel tanks are fitted with a capacity of 100 Litres.
The XY is riding on custom made 15x7" Performance brand wheels including the spare with Toyo 245/60R15 tyres all round.
This multi award winning Panel Van is supplied with the original Victorian number plate (IET594), two sets of keys, all the trophies plus a receipt file for some of the restoration work completed.
"Wild Violet" is a lovely chrome bumper cruiser, a classic XY Ford with heaps of get and and go and the comforts of power steering and Air conditioning that we have grown accustomed too.
